Chronic pain affects millions of people. Treating it well takes skill, patience, and new ideas. Dr. Nikesh Seth, a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain specialist based in Scottsdale, Arizona, has spent more than 15 years working at that intersection. Serving patients throughout Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix area, he has built, scaled, and rebuilt medical practices centered on one goal, helping patients regain function and control of their lives. His career is not just about medicine. It is about turning big ideas into working systems that serve both patients and providers.

Early life and education: Engineering meets medicine
Nikesh Seth was born in Texas but grew up in Arizona. Today, he lives in Scottsdale with his wife and two children.
He attended Horizon High School in Scottsdale before heading to Johns Hopkins University. There, he earned a degree in biomedical engineering.
Engineering shaped how he thinks. At Johns Hopkins, he also completed his pre-med studies and spent several summers doing research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Those years built his interest in innovation and evidence-based care.
“I developed a passion for innovation and clinical excellence early on,” he says. He later completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Texas, training in the Texas Medical Center, one of the largest medical centers in the world. He then pursued a pain management fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago, where he trained in advanced interventional techniques.
“I worked alongside some of the best pain providers in the country,” he says. “That experience shaped how I approach patient care today.”
How did Nikesh Seth build integrated pain consultants?
After years of training, Dr. Seth stepped into leadership. He founded Integrated Pain Consultants in Scottsdale, Arizona. What began as a single practice grew into a multi-state operation. At its peak, the organization included more than 15 providers across 10 clinical locations.
Scaling a medical practice requires more than clinical skill. It demands structure, hiring discipline, training systems, and operational consistency.
Under his leadership, the group focused on patient-centered service and quality-driven care. Over time, it became one of the region’s leading pain management organizations. The practice was eventually sold to a private equity firm.
For Dr. Seth, growth was never just about size. “A successful career in pain management is defined not just by clinical volume or business growth,” he says. “It’s about long-term relationships built on trust, transparency, and ethical practice.”
Why he launched global pain solutions
After the sale of Integrated Pain Consultants, Dr. Seth returned to what he calls his roots. He founded Global Pain Solutions in Scottsdale with a clear focus, compassionate care, individualized treatment, and the responsible use of innovative techniques.
“True professional success is grounded in showing empathy and taking concrete actions to ease both the physical and emotional burden of pain,” he says.
His practice focuses on minimally invasive spine treatments, neuropathy, sciatica, low back arthritis, and regenerative medicine such as PRP and stem cell therapies.
He is careful about how innovation is used. “Success also means staying at the forefront of pain medicine,” he says. “By integrating new technologies responsibly, we can improve outcomes while minimizing risk and downtime.”
His engineering background still shows. He looks at treatment plans as systems that can be refined and improved.
Awards, recognition, and industry impact
Over the years, Dr. Seth has received multiple “Top Doctor” awards from Phoenix Magazine. He has also been recognized by Scottsdale Magazine as a leader in medicine and named a “Leading Physician of the World.”
But he does not measure success by titles alone. “For me, success is ultimately the legacy of patients whose lives have been transformed,” he says. “People who feel seen, supported, and empowered to live fully despite their pain.”
His influence extends beyond his own clinic. By building and scaling a multi-location practice, then launching a new model centered on focused care, he has helped shape how pain practices operate in Arizona.
What drives Nikesh Seth outside of work?
Dr. Seth often credits his parents for his work ethic. “They came from poverty and worked very hard to provide a great life for our family,” he says. “I watched them never give up despite hardships.”
Their example shaped his mindset. When challenges arise, he leans on resilience and family support.
“I fall back on my family and use their encouragement to strive to be better and find solutions,” he says.
At home, he is active and hands-on. He enjoys running, basketball, tennis, pickleball, and working on his golf game with his son. He teaches his son programming and robotics. He plays tennis with his daughter and supports her interests in piano and dance.
“As a family man, I believe success is also defined by being present for your family,” he says.
Lessons from a career in pain management
Dr. Nikesh Seth describes himself in three words, “Hard working, devoted, and always learning.”
Those traits show in his career path. He trained at leading institutions. He built a regional practice. He sold it. Then he started again with a clearer focus.
His approach blends empathy with innovation. Every patient encounter, he says, is “an opportunity to be present, listen deeply, and respond with treatments that honor the patient’s values and goals.”
In an industry often defined by complex cases and long-term care, Dr. Nikesh Seth has built a career around turning ideas into action. Not with hype. But with systems, steady growth, and a clear belief that compassion and innovation can work side by side.
For him, that balance is the real achievement.
