I’m writing this article to share information and inspiration on our natural human creative abilities and how they are related to conflict. Below, I enclose an unedited list of raw insights, glimpses, solutions, relational landscapes, and practices I experienced in my personal journey and work with through my practice.

Our body is able to find and work with capacities, whether we work on our natural gifts or develop new capacities.

If there is anything from the list that speaks to you and you would like to explore and work on, feel free to contact me.

Trauma and conflict

Trauma is the natural systemic instrument life uses to preserve itself and ensure continuity through crises.

Understanding how trauma works is essential in order to restore and expand living conditions beyond surviving once crises are over. It operates not only through our human bodies; it also operates with anything else living: animals, the land, places, and spaces.

When we humans do not engage and work through what has been traumatised, the frozen, with its unresolved loyalties holding back to the past, will automatically be passed down to the next generations at individual and collective levels until it is acknowledged and processed.

Out of blind loyalty to events from the past affecting our need for belonging, patterns of conflict and violence can be repeated when trauma has not been processed, not understood, not left to the past, and a wider unconditional support has not been embodied again for today and for going forward.

Creative tension as a way to transform conflict

Consciously practising our life-sustaining creative abilities transforms the energetic fields and networks we are all part of. Energy and matter are two expressions of the same reality.

Our individual abilities join forces with others when two or more co-creating people agree to disagree. This will support safety and then trust during emergence and processing with the unknown.

Learning and practising together how to hold creative tension and expand our capacities for it will redirect attention and energy away from conflict. Our creativity applies to the existing as well as to the new.

The more people engage and find their own ways to create life-sustaining systems at scale, the less space and energy for conflict will be available at scale as a result.

The paradox of avoiding conflict

Conflict is only the last stage of previous avoidance, of letting go of what no longer serves us and then attending to self-regeneration; the unprocessed will seek an outlet sooner or later.

Not processing trauma is a central contributor to this.

Dry grass and stacked logs burn in a smoky rural field, with bright orange flames and glowing embers.

Practising creative activities without addressing the underlying unprocessed foundation will generate a short-term boom-and-bust. Working on foundations first is a slower and steadier process that will last longer instead. It’s the same difference between setting a bonfire of straw and a bonfire of wooden logs.

Therefore, a choice we have is to practise together creative tension circles as a conscious and regular outlet for the unprocessed, instead of conflict eventually being the outlet bursting down the line.

Our creative abilities have nothing to do with “having ideas” or “talking to each other.”

At the foundation of us attending to our own nature as relational creative beings, there is us tuning in and feeling with our own body into what we are doing, and more regularly.

This is the prerequisite to surrendering to any form of death and letting go, to then restore our deep listening capacities to self-regeneration arising from the living space, within and between people.

Human body Earth resonance and climate impact

It’s no coincidence that the alimentary regimes that most sustain our body resonance with the Earth are the ones with the least or no climate impact on our planet.

Conversely, it’s not a coincidence that the climate impact from producing food for the current alimentary regimes is coming from human unprocessed trauma, and it is being passed down to the next generations.

The Earth is simply reflecting back the consequences of human choices of self-rejection.
