If abundance is something that you have to chase, it may never have been truly yours. Explore what lies beneath the mindset rituals and discover why the flow so often fades the moment that the practices stop.

The money mindset revolution
There is a widespread revolution unfolding around our relationship with money. Everywhere we turn, people are talking about manifesting wealth, attracting abundance, and rewiring their beliefs in order to ‘live their best life’.
And yet, despite the vision boards, affirmations and carefully curated routines, many are still not experiencing the full impact of the flow that money mindset has promised them. When the money does appear, it often feels fleeting and conditional. One missed meditation or skipped routine, and suddenly things feel off. Maybe an unexpected parking ticket arrives with the eerie timing of a universe keeping score.
In these moments, it is easy to believe that the tools must be working, because when the rituals are consistent, so is the flow. When they stop, the flow begins to fade.
But beneath this rhythm lies a deeper inquiry: is this true alignment, or is it dependency?
Rewrite your money story
Most people do not realise that their relationship with money is not really about money at all. It is a reflection – a mirror revealing unresolved beliefs, suppressed emotions, and inherited fears, internalised over the course of a lifetime, or lifetimes, often without conscious awareness.
This relationship encompasses the stories that we carry, the conditioning that has shaped us and the ancestral fears that we have inherited. All of these are reflected in the responses of our nervous systems and conditioned by generations of scarcity and trauma. Without realising it, we inherit not just stories, but emotional imprints that quietly shape how we experience money.
If we grew up hearing phrases like ‘money doesn’t grow on trees’ or ‘you have to work hard to earn a living’, we may now unconsciously link money with struggle. If money was a source of tension in our childhood home, it may still feel unsafe to receive or hold onto it. If we were taught that wealthy people are selfish or corrupt, we might quietly resist abundance, even as we consciously try to invite it in.
To begin the journey towards real freedom, we must first recognise the roots of our money story. Only by bringing these unconscious imprints into conscious awareness can we begin to unravel the emotional and energetic patterns that have quietly shaped our reality. This process invites us to look not only at what we believe about money but also at where those beliefs came from, how they have lived in our bodies and how they continue to influence our choices. When we begin to see these things more clearly, we create the space to rewrite the narrative. Only then can we unlock the path to true financial and emotional liberation.
Beyond affirmations
True wealth begins with healing these core beliefs around money. Many people focus solely on surface-level money mindset tools, but without addressing these deeper emotional blocks and limiting beliefs, lasting transformation remains out of reach.
These tools were never designed to carry the full frequency of our abundance by themselves. True transformation requires a foundation built not just on belief but on embodied healing that can hold abundance at every level of our being.
By engaging in deeper healing and transforming these subconscious patterns, we create a foundation for sustainable abundance. This integrative work rewires our nervous systems, allowing us to fully release scarcity programming and truly embody the wealth consciousness necessary for long-term financial success.
The subconscious patterns shaped by early beliefs and experiences do not just influence our relationship with money, they define it. And because these patterns operate beneath the surface, we may find ourselves wondering why, despite seeing some results, the flow never quite feels stable. There may be moments of success, brief surges of abundance or alignment, but these often feel transient. The results are circumstantial, sustained only by strict adherence to routines and rituals, rather than anchored in a deeper, embodied state.
It is not a question of effort or commitment. The issue is that if we are only working with money mindset tools then we are only working on the surface level, without addressing the root causes. What we are experiencing is not failure, but a lack of integration, meaning that the new beliefs and practices have not yet been fully absorbed or embodied within our deeper emotional and energetic systems. Without this integration, the shifts that we are experiencing remain fragile and vulnerable to life’s inevitable challenges.
From a physiological perspective, the nervous system continues to respond according to long-held patterns of stress, scarcity, or fear. Until these neural pathways are rewired and regulated, our bodies will instinctively resist abundance, triggering subconscious blocks and emotional resistance that undermine lasting change.
True transformation requires that these changes become part of our core identity, our automatic responses, core beliefs and emotional reactions, integrated at both the conscious and unconscious level, rather than something that we simply repeat or perform. Without this deeper integration, what may appear to be alignment is often just dependency on tools, routines or external practices to hold the frequency for us.
Unfortunately, this essential deeper work is often overlooked in conventional money mindset coaching. While surface-level tools like affirmations and vision boards can play a support role in achieving short-term goals, without being grounded in true healing, their effects remain temporary and fragile.
The new money mindset
Up until now, many people have not been ready to undertake this deeper healing work. Society has largely only scratched the surface when it comes to manifestation and the law of attraction. But as
this global shift in consciousness gains momentum, more and more individuals are feeling the call to go deeper. This growing awareness is prompting a necessary evolution in the tools and approaches used to support transformation.
Coaches have traditionally worked within the existing framework of human consciousness, offering tools and methods that align as a vibrational match to humanity’s current energetic frequency.
However, as our collective vibration gradually elevates, these approaches reveal their limitations.
These familiar strategies and techniques must now evolve to meet this heightened frequency. What felt true and effective in one vibrational paradigm may no longer resonate as we step into new realms of awareness. This shift calls for more sophisticated, integrative practices that honour the complexity of our internal dynamics and the deeper healing required to sustain authentic abundance.
Mindset tools have played an important role in preparing us for the deeper work. They have helped to open the door, expanding our awareness, planting new seeds of consciousness and possibility, whilst shifting old perspectives. In many ways, they have served as a gateway, leading us toward the inner terrain that true transformation requires. And as we begin to explore that deeper work, these tools continue to play a valuable role by offering us support, stability, and a sense of balance as we navigate the shadow aspects of ourselves. As shadow work draws us into deeper layers of emotional intensity, mindset tools can help to maintain our equilibrium, anchoring us in stability whilst we process and integrate the more challenging aspects of ourselves.
As this revolution of consciousness unfolds, our understanding of wealth itself must also transform. The new paradigm of wealth is not about bypassing trauma or societal conditioning to reach our desired goals. It is about healing the foundation so that when money comes, it has somewhere solid to land, creating sustainable abundance and lasting wealth.
The false positive vibration
The moment our routine is interrupted, the energy shifts, abundance fades, and anxiety quietly returns.
Without deeper integration, even the most popular mindset tools can create, what I call, a false positive vibration, which is essentially an emotional state that we have borrowed rather than embodied. We are reaching for a frequency that is not yet truly ours. It has not yet been anchored into our nervous system or internalised at a core level. The practices may appear to work, but only for as long as we continue to do them. The moment we stop maintaining the effort, we can no longer hold the borrowed frequency. We are met once again with our baseline state which is still shaped by unhealed patterns and unresolved beliefs. This creates a fragile dynamic that is neither sustainable nor consistent.
This is the cycle that many find themselves caught in. The illusion of alignment, when in truth, it is only a temporary emotional high. The affirmations, routines and visualisations may elevate us for a while, but if they are not anchored in deep, nervous system-level integration, their foundation rests in continuous performance rather than authentic embodiment.
It is easy to think that ‘faking it until we make it’ is enough. That simply pretending to embody abundance will eventually bring it to us. But this new shift in consciousness calls for us to go beyond faking it, and into actually making it.
Whilst mindset tools have been, and will continue to be, a great place to start, moving beyond faking it and into truly making it, requires a willingness to go deeper. To turn toward the uncomfortable questions that most mindset work tends to bypass. Questions like these serve as entry points into the unconscious blocks and inherited patterns that continue to shape our relationship with money:
Where did I learn that it’s not safe to have more?
What am I afraid will happen if I receive everything I want?
What part of me still believes that I have to sacrifice, suffer, or prove my worth?
Have I attached my self-worth to how hard I work for what I receive?
In what ways am I holding onto scarcity as a form of identity or protection?
Who might I lose, disappoint or outgrow if I allow myself to thrive?
What beliefs about money were passed down to me that no longer serve me?
The power of shadow work
Answering those difficult questions is the gateway to shadow work, the deeper, often uncomfortable process where real transformation happens. This may feel confronting or even painful at times, but it is precisely through this challenging process that genuine freedom emerges. When we bring the hidden parts of ourselves into the light, the fears, the shame, the unspoken rules that we have been living by, we begin to dissolve the unconscious patterns that keep pulling us back into scarcity.
Until this happens, those patterns will continue to hold us back, regardless of how many abundance rituals we do.
Shadow work may not offer an immediate quick fix, but it does provide a long-lasting transformation that ultimately requires less energy and effort than continually relying on temporary fixes that do not fully support or sustain true change.
Most importantly, shadow work helps us to shift our baseline frequency. It creates a foundation of safety and grounding that we can fully anchor into. When we do this work, we no longer need the tools to hold the vibration that we are trying to reach. We become the tool. We are the vibration, fully embodied, fully anchored, and in true alignment with that which we seek to create.
Get behind the money
One of the most common mistakes that people make when working on their money mindset is focusing solely on the money itself. Money is rarely the true desire, it is simply a bridge to something deeper. What we truly seek is the emotional state that money will bring: safety, freedom, security, comfort and the ability to choose how we live. This is what we truly desire, not the accumulation of financial resources.
Rather than focusing on the finances, get behind the money and tap into the true purpose beyond your financial desires. Instead of visualising cash in the bank, visualise, feel and sense the life that you want to live. The things that you want to experience. The stability that you want to create. If you desire more freedom, picture yourself awakening calmly, in your own time, and moving through your day with ease, feeling safe, secure and grounded in your own rhythm and flow. Or if you dream of a home, focus on the safety, warmth, grounding and peace that it represents. Imagine yourself in that space, fully connected to how it makes you feel.
By doing this, you will connect with the true purpose of your desires. Whether that is for meeting practical needs or for cultivating emotional freedom, ask yourself:
What does freedom feel like?
What does security feel like?
What version of myself would money allow me to become?
What am I truly craving beneath the surface of my financial goals?
Is it money that I desire or am I seeking to feel safe, loved, valued or free?
Which needs am I hoping that money will allow me to meet?
How would it feel to meet those needs from within, even before the money arrives?
Where in my life do I still feel unsafe, unsupported or unfulfilled?
True fulfilment and lasting abundance arise not from money itself, but from meeting our essential human needs. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs reminds us that when fundamental needs, such as food, rest, safety, connection, and opportunities for personal growth are truly experienced and felt as secure, we build the stable foundation necessary to fully embrace abundance in all areas of life.
When these core needs are honoured, money transforms from a source of stress or desperation into a tool that supports the rich, vibrant life that we are truly seeking.
Why manifestation isn’t working
What is often overlooked in money mindset work is that many people are manifesting not from a place of empowerment, but from a state of survival. When our basic needs are not being met, it places the body in a constant state of stress. The nervous system becomes dysregulated, the mind fixates on lack and financial decisions are made from a place of fear instead of clarity or alignment. The desire for money, in this state, is not rooted in expansion, instead it is a response to the contraction of unmet needs.
This underlying stress response and scarcity mindset create a shaky foundation for financial growth. Money can only serve its highest purpose when it is built on a foundation of inner safety. When our core needs for safety are supported, money becomes a stabilising force that nurtures expansion instead of fuelling fear.
This inner foundation of safety not only transforms our relationship with money but also provides the steady grounding needed to shift our focus. When we direct our attention toward what we truly seek, we begin to move beyond the dense collective energy that distorts money’s true potential. By attuning to the emotional frequency behind our desires, we start to bypass the vibration of lack and scarcity and begin to separate our personal experience with money from the inherited energy that surrounds it.
Detach from collective fear
Money itself is not inherently a heavy energy, it holds the vibration of neutrality, but the beliefs that we attach to it often are. Every moment of fear, stress or lack projected onto money lingers in the collective field, carried not only through generations but also through ancestral and past-life imprints. When we focus solely on manifesting wealth, we may unintentionally tune into this deep well of collective fear, rather than the pure energy of true abundance.
If we hold negative or limiting beliefs, fears or worries about money, we become a vibrational match for centuries of anxiety and scarcity that have shaped the collective energy around it, instead of aligning with the authentic frequency of prosperity.
Think of it like a superstition: on its own, it is just a belief, but the more that people feed that superstition with fear, expectation and emotion, the stronger the emotional charge it holds. Over time, the belief becomes so culturally ingrained that it generates a vibration all of its own. If we accept it as true, we tune into that energy and our experience will begin to reflect it. If we do not believe it, we are not a vibrational match for that frequency and it holds no power over us.
The same applies to money. Collective stories about lack and limitation have become so deeply rooted and emotionally charged that most people carry multiple narratives that tether them to scarcity. If we do not have these limiting beliefs, the energy of collective scarcity holds no power over us, allowing us to resonate naturally with genuine abundance.
In this way, it is important to acknowledge that for a small number of people, money mindset tools may be enough on their own. If someone holds no limiting beliefs or subconscious blocks around money, perhaps because they were raised in an environment where money was always present, emotionally neutral and easy to receive, then they may naturally connect with the energy of money without resistance. In these cases, practices like affirmations and visualisations can work effectively, because there are no deeper patterns getting in the way.
However, this level of internal freedom is rare. Most people carry inherited fears, emotional imprints or nervous system responses, shaped by scarcity and survival. It is through the process of shadow work, through bringing awareness to and healing these unconscious blocks, whilst releasing the trauma from our bodies, that we begin to release those dense frequencies that keep us locked into negative energy patterns. Through shifting these patterns we begin to bypass the emotional charge surrounding money and align with the true, expansive frequency of genuine wealth.
Desire over dollars
By tuning into the true essence of our desires, we open ourselves to possibilities beyond mere financial limitations. Focusing on the dream rather than the dollar invites new opportunities into our lives. Money becomes just one of many pathways to manifesting that dream. Shifting our attention to get behind the money and into the frequency of what we truly want creates space for unexpected and meaningful experiences that our logical minds might never have anticipated.
For example, imagine that your dream is to live off-grid, growing vegetables and caring for animals on a beautiful stretch of land. You might assume that you need a large sum of money to make this happen. But what if someone out there is looking for exactly you? Perhaps there is a couple ready to retire who need someone to manage their land, or a community project searching for a caretaker.
These synchronicities might never surface if you remain focused on the cost and the challenge of financing your dream.
Fixating on money can cause us to give up, believing that our dream is unattainable. When we get behind the money we give permission and space for new possibilities to unfold.
Abundance without struggle
When we stop trying to control how abundance appears and instead align with the deeper frequency of our desires, something shifts. We begin to realise that it was never about chasing the money, it was always about becoming the version of ourselves that no longer needs to.
From this place of embodiment, we stop striving and start receiving. Abundance no longer arrives through stress or chaos, but through ease, grace and inner alignment. We begin to receive more by doing less. Because we are no longer driven by fear or scarcity, we no longer need to put as much effort in. We do not need to push or force. We have dissolved the inner narrative that equates money with struggle, and in so doing, we unlock a new way of living where abundance flows with integrity and ease.
Embody true abundance
There is nothing wrong with money mindset tools. In fact, they can be powerful aids along the path to financial freedom when used alongside the deeper work. Practices like affirmations, visualisations and routines can help to stabilise our energy, reinforce positive beliefs and keep us aligned with our goals as we navigate the more challenging inner terrain. When paired with shadow work, these tools become not just motivational, but integrative, helping us to bridge the gap between where we are and where we want to be.
The more shadow work that we engage in, the less we will need to ‘trick’ ourselves into maintaining a higher vibration. Instead, we will embody that vibration fully and authentically, not just on the good days, but also in the difficult moments when life feels challenging, chaotic or uncertain. Our abundance becomes something that exists from within, something that simply is, rather than something that we have to work hard to sustain.
The transformation happens because we have done the deeper work. The vibration that we are reaching for is no longer borrowed, it is ours, integrated, authentic and unshakeable. Even in our lowest moments, it remains, steady, intact and fully ours.
As this vibration becomes our new baseline, we will begin to respond to life from that grounded place, rather than reacting from old patterns and conditioning. We will hold our centre with greater ease, and in so doing, we will invite more stability into our external world. The more deeply we embody this state, the less we will find ourselves shaken by the chaos around us and, as a result, the less chaos we will invite in.
This is the sustainable frequency that we need to cultivate. One that no longer attracts fleeting, conditional wealth, but instead holds, grows and lives in true harmony with it. This is where true abundance begins.
Are you feeling stuck, blocked or caught in patterns that mindset work alone isn’t shifting? If so, you are not alone. Whether you are navigating financial blocks, emotional healing or a desire to reconnect with your true self, know that lasting change is possible.
