2028 – Award-winning filmmaker, producer, musician, and Indigenous rights advocate His Royal Highness (HRH) Josh S V Chauhan I, will release his highly anticipated original mystery thriller, The Word From the Wood, exclusively on YouTube in 2028. Watch the teaser trailer here: The Word From The Wood (2028) Official Teaser Trailer.

Man in a dark coat stands with his back to the camera in a bare forest at dusk, creating a moody, quiet scene.

Blending neo-noir detective fiction, psychological horror, and dystopian science fiction, The Word From the Wood presents a world standing on the brink of cosmic extinction. Humanity has entered its final chapter as scientists confirm the Sun has only a handful of years before catastrophic collapse, leaving civilisation fractured by fear, authoritarian control, and societal decay.

Against this backdrop, an unprecedented wave of ritualistic murders spreads through the remnants of society. Entire communities vanish without explanation, bodies are discovered bearing enigmatic symbols, and whispers emerge of an ancient phrase, "the word from the wood", said to connect every victim.

Tasked with unravelling the mystery is an elite detective whose extraordinary deductive abilities have earned an almost mythical reputation. Racing against both an elusive serial killer and the countdown to humanity's final dawn, the investigation becomes increasingly personal as each revelation blurs the line between rational evidence, forgotten Indigenous folklore, and terrifying truths hidden within the forests themselves.

Indigenous rights and ecological sovereignty at the core

At its heart, The Word From the Wood deeply embeds themes of Indigenous rights advocacy, post-colonial land sovereignty, and sacred environmental guardianship. As corporate and authoritarian factions exploit the earth's remaining natural sanctuaries in a desperate attempt to survive the solar collapse, the narrative foregrounds the ancient knowledge, traditional ecological stewardship, and autonomy of Indigenous nations. The film explores how colonial exploitation of land mirrors the broader ecological collapse, positioning Indigenous sovereignty and ancestral wisdom not as forgotten lore, but as the central key to understanding humanity's true place within nature.

Directed and produced by HRH Josh S V Chauhan I, the film explores themes of mortality, justice, ecological collapse, Indigenous rights, destiny, and the fragile nature of civilisation when confronted by inevitable extinction.

Speaking about the project, Chauhan said:

The Word From the Wood is not simply a murder mystery. It is a story about what humanity chooses to become when tomorrow is no longer guaranteed. It asks whether truth and Indigenous land rights still matter when the end of the world is already written, and whether listening to the land's original guardians is our last remaining hope."

Featuring a distinctive visual style inspired by dystopian futurism, atmospheric suspense, and psychological tension, The Word From the Wood promises an immersive cinematic experience that combines relentless mystery with philosophical science fiction and post-colonial advocacy.

The production marks another ambitious creative project from HRH Josh S V Chauhan I, continuing a multidisciplinary body of work spanning film, music, visual storytelling, and human rights advocacy.

The Word From the Wood will premiere globally on YouTube in 2028. Additional information, trailers, and release dates will be announced closer to launch.
