To understand the future, you must reflect on the past. That understanding is relevant for all areas of our lives, whether we are trying to compute which shares and stocks to buy, what holiday destination we want to visit, or even when we weigh up who we want in our lives. Past and present most definitely tell a lot about the future trajectory.

If we look at our own lives and where we want to go, are the two conducive? Does our self-sabotaging ways plague us like a memory? Do we know that our biggest obstacle is actually ourselves or are we too focused on excuses and possibility? To really get aligned with what you want in your future there are a few emotional components that must happen before those manifestations can even show up. One of the key elements to success is knowing and feeling like you actually deserve it to the degree of believing it is right for you. There is an incredibly high rate of people who win money for example, and they lose it within a short amount of time. The fantasy of it was greater than the reality of having it. Whether it is through shame, embarrassment or the responsibility it comes with, whatever it is for you, you will self-sabotage. Knowing you can have something and hold space for it is the first step. The second step is appreciation.

When I work with clients who want to attract better things, opportunities into their lives, they can achieve it quite quickly, it’s the characteristics that are hidden that will dictate the outcome more than the actually showing up of it. For example, I worked with a client of mine and they wanted a new role within their company. It was obvious when we started to unpack the role in more depth, there were certain characteristics that were being compromised which made obtaining the goal very difficult. Their attitude had to change. Their life had been hard and they had worked hard for everything they had got, so can they make that temperature change into ease? Is the nervous system able to stay in the relaxed, ‘having’ state rather than the ‘Doing’ and ‘I need to keep working at this’ state? This is where gratitude comes in. When you are absolutely delighted with the blessings and opportunities, then your nervous system will reset itself and thus, you will start acting and looking more like a leader and not someone who is exhausted.

Most people I have worked with are a product of their upbringing and the messages they received from it. It is clear most people want a better life and they want things and opportunities that make them feel empowered. The problem is, can you stand in a luxury watch shop and ask for what you want, knowing you deserve it, knowing it feels so good to be around it, or do you quiver at the questions and feel a shame and an imposter? Owning your space and your desires and knowing you deserve to be happy is one of the most important positions you can be in. The same mindset can be seen in people who get a new promotion, are they hired because they can do the job or are they hired because of the way they lead? Their energy.

When I worked in hiring solutions as a talent acquisition consultant. It didn’t matter which country I worked from or which company I worked in; most of our decisions were made from the standpoint of confidence in a person. People hire energy before they hire skill. People and companies will lean toward potential if it is clear that the person they are considering holds a certain gravitas and a certain magic and is able to influence and conduct. So don’t let your rigidity around where you have come from or who you have been ever dictating the possibility of leaning right into the very thing that you want.

I grew up in a very spiritual home, one on side of things, it was religious and on the other it was very new-age spiritualist. If that taught me anything, it was that believing is the most important thing. Having a little bit of magic in your life goes a long way. The restriction comes, when we limit ourselves and judge ourselves for who we were and have been told. There is no need to feel like an imposter. There are so many incremental differences between you and the next; a small gesture of kindness and the way you speak to people will be appreciated far beyond what you think and will leave a lasting impression. So dream! And dream big! But, and here’s the but, you must be willing to own it, don’t feel shame and embrace the weight of the responsibility and the noise that your achievement brings, never minimize yourself, because that act alone will push it away and will cause you to self-sabotage. Then, when you are locked in to knowing this is what you deserve now, I want you to appreciate it, appreciate every small detail.

Stress is a lack of knowledge, so research everything about what you want to attract. Know it like you are the expert, that will relax you and bring you into that nervous system I was talking to you about. It will bring you into that spiritual and emotional alignment. The problems we see mainly, come from people creating distance, when you create distance then you will lose it. In most cases where people have lost all of the money they won, from let’s say the lotto, they spend it and rapidly. They create distance between them and ‘it’. Instead, embrace it, create space for it and enjoy it, this will guarantee the outcome that you want.

So many people want happiness, but then they can’t hold it. Create space for it and cry if you need to, release the anger and the frustration and the feeling of you not being allowed to be happy. You are allowed to be happy because you just gave yourself permission to be happy. So give yourself permission to feel love, receive love, receive respect and own the space you are in with so much joy and appreciate it has no literally cannot create distance from you if it tried, because from my work, I have seen that appreciation is indeed the biggest multiplier and those who cannot speak well of something, sooner or later it will divorce you.

To predict your future, ask yourself what you appreciate today. What are you holding onto today, because it will show up tomorrow.
