I dreamed of flight. I was flying through night skies as the stars guided me to fulfill my future of creative productivity. With crystal vision, I saw myself living my purpose: writing, illustrating and coaching. Then suddenly my alarm clock jolted me awake. I stumbled out of bed, showered and put on a fabulous outfit, swallowed a handful of vitamins with my morning elixir, and began driving down the highway of Dreams Deferred to my job as a high school science teacher.

After decades of this robotic routine, I resolved to actualize and Get FREE! Following these steps has improved my life. And once you begin implementing these steps, you will notice transformative changes in your outlook and in your life. Here are the steps to Get FREE:

F: Fight Your Fears. Put on your Get It! boxing gloves and go get your dreams. Fight those fears that tell you leaving your job is impossible. Flip the fearful script that says: “What if I fail?”, and ask yourself “What if I succeed?” and “How great will my life be when I do succeed?” Changing your self-talk will change your actions, and this will open your eyes to all the signs encouraging you to follow your dreams and live the life you have always envisioned.

R: Reclaim Your Power. Do this by working on your creative projects whenever, and wherever, you find a pocket of time. These pockets of time appear when you least expect them, so always be prepared. Carry a notepad or phone with you wherever you go.

  • Write down any ideas or catch phrases that come to you throughout the day. Taking this simple step will be energizing and affirming. Soon you will find yourself writing down these gems of inspiration on a regular basis!

  • Promise yourself that you will do whatever it takes to manifest your dreams in this reality, here and now. This means that you must prioritize yourself and your time to actively work on your passion projects.

E: Execute your Dreams. Begin your day by waking up at 5 or 6 a.m. Feed your soul by getting an early start on your projects and building your dreams. Before giving your time and energy to others, make a plan to turn these precious resources inward and work on your projects as much as possible. Devoting time to your life’s purpose is extremely fulfilling because you are prioritizing you, and actively building your dreams.

E: Emerge. Emerge from the cocoon of adulthood and set your inner-child free. Return to the hobbies and activities that brought you the greatest joy in your youth. Have fun and let yourself transform! Making fun a priority fosters a possibilities mindset that replaces limiting mindsets. Your energy will be lifted and you will develop an inner-knowing that anything really is possible!

Embrace these actualizing actions and affirm that you are so much more than your day job.

It’s time to Get FREE!
