In a world filled with hustle and bustle, it's essential to carve out space for gratitude and joy. As a busy family woman with a full-time career, you understand the significance of positivity in every aspect of life. I’ve struggled in the past to bring balance into my life by trying to juggle way too many things at once-becoming less grateful and not having joy in any of it. As someone who has overcome this, let me share three actionable steps and come alongside you in your journey with gratitude and joy, creating a radiant life that shines bright.

1. Morning gratitude ritual


I admit it took me a while to become a morning person. I’d wake up, hit the snooze button, dread the morning rush of getting kids ready and myself, and then face the work day. However, as time passed, and it quickly passed, I began shifting my mindset of the mornings. I now wake up without an alarm at all! I do have my routine, but I focus on my intentions for the day. Sitting in silence, I enjoy my cup of coffee and the first rays of the morning sun that bring with them an opportunity to set a positive tone for the day. Begin by nurturing a morning gratitude ritual. Before you even step out of bed, take a moment to reflect on three things you're thankful for. These could be as simple as the warmth of your blankets, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, or the support of your family. By starting your day with appreciation, you invite joy to accompany you through every step.


2. Embrace the present moment


I live 8 minutes from my little shop in my small town. So even on my commute to work, I enjoy my drive down the same street every day, seeing new things, enjoying the people, seeing the seasons change, and listening to whatever song that is playing on the radio or current podcast that Im currently listing to. At the moment, I’ve been hooked on the ‘Rethinking God with Tacos Podcast.’ It's a great one for progressive people of faith. There’s also some enjoyment when 90’s old-school rap or R&B comes on the radio.


In a fast-paced world, finding joy in the present moment can be transformative. Whether driving to work, going on a jog on the track, or spending quality time with your family, immerse yourself fully. Engage your senses to experience the beauty around you: the song you're listening to, the people you're seeing, the laughter echoing through the room, and the vivid colors of nature. By being fully present, you'll unlock the gateway to unending joy.


3. Acts of kindness


A heart that gives freely radiates joy effortlessly. As a woman who works in the beauty industry and ministry, I constantly see the power of kindness. Continue to spread positivity by performing small acts of kindness. Share a genuine compliment with a colleague, lend a helping hand to a friend, or surprise a loved one with a thoughtful gesture. These acts amplify the joy in your life and create a ripple effect of happiness in the lives of those you touch.

A life of gratitude and joy is a masterpiece you create one moment at a time. As a wife and mother, I’ve learned the importance of living in gratitude and joy. It’s the legacy I want to leave my family and how I want to be remembered. By nurturing a morning gratitude ritual, embracing the present moment, and sharing acts of kindness, you're crafting a life that exudes positivity. So, keep shining, spreading joy, and embracing each day's beauty.
