As an Organizational Change Management practitioner, I deeply understand the importance of evaluating the impact of change at every level of an organization. Change is not just a disruption, it’s a crucial building block that strengthens the foundation for long-term growth and sustainability. At the heart of every transformation is the human experience, which is why I prioritize assessing how individuals respond to and adapt to change. Through my experience, I’ve observed that people typically fall into one of three categories when it comes to embracing change:

Change adventurers

These individuals are bold and eager to dive into the unknown. They often thrive on spontaneity, learning through direct experience rather than following a structured plan. While their willingness to take risks can be valuable, leaders may overlook them due to their unpredictable nature and lack of alignment with formal processes.

Change self-doubters

This group desires to grow and evolve, but it often lacks the confidence or external support needed to move forward. It remains on the sidelines, quietly waiting for acknowledgment or an opportunity to be seen. I relate to this mindset early in my career; I remember standing in those same shadows, searching for my voice and place.

Change independent thinkers

These individuals represent a blend of adventurous spirit and thoughtful reflection. They understand their limitations, embrace failure as a learning opportunity, and are driven to improve. Consistent, proactive, and resilient, they approach each day as a step in their broader journey, knowing that change is necessary for personal and professional development.

In my role, I find fulfillment in guiding emerging leaders to recognize how their daily choices, made over the course of just 24 hours, can influence their performance and their long-term career path. I emphasize the importance of achieving life-work balance, which I believe is critical to authentic success.

Actual growth begins when you can define success on your terms, free from external expectations. From that place of self-awareness, you can re-enter the professional world with intention, ready to build meaningful connections with others who value learning, progress, and a growth mindset.
