[Geneva, Switzerland – June, 2025]  After years of refinement and creative resilience, Bellar is officially launching its first product: a collapsible, structured boater hat that folds flat for packing, yet unfolds into an elegant, rigid silhouette a breakthrough in both fashion and function. This is not a new twist on an old idea. It’s a product that simply didn’t exist before.

A real problem – A beautiful solution

Bellar was born out of a familiar and frustrating moment. While traveling back from Mexico, founder Houda Dahhou found her favorite hat squashed beyond repair in her luggage. It was a beautiful piece structured, elegant and completely impractical to travel with. That moment sparked the idea: why hasn’t anyone invented a hat that’s both beautiful and travel-friendly?

After searching the market and finding only flimsy, shapeless “packable” hats or rigid styles that were impossible to carry, Houda began developing a solution herself. What started as a personal inconvenience became a years-long journey in product innovation one that led to the patent-pending Louise hat, a one-of-a-kind accessory that refuses to compromise.

What makes Bellar different

Unlike anything on the market today, the Bellar hat collapses fully flat for packing, yet maintains the structured look and feel of a high-end boater hat when worn. It combines modern design thinking with elegant minimalism, giving women the freedom to bring their style wherever they go, without worrying about damage, bulk, or awkward packing solutions.

Each hat is handcrafted with carefully sourced materials that mimic the beauty of woven straw while providing the strength and flexibility needed for the collapsible mechanism to function effortlessly. From idea to execution, every detail was designed with intention, not just to look good, but to solve a real-life design problem that millions of women quietly accept every time they travel.

Bellar is functional without sacrificing aesthetics, and elegant without sacrificing practicality. It’s not a gimmick it’s a thoughtfully engineered piece that meets a deeply felt need. Whether stored flat in a closet or packed in a suitcase, it’s the kind of item that quickly becomes a favorite for anyone who owns it.

Built on the refusal to settle

Before creating Bellar, Houda worked in global grain trading. Though her work was technical and fast-paced, she often dreamed of building something of her own. It wasn’t until the frustration of her ruined hat collided with her instinct to solve problems through design that she saw a clear path.

“I kept thinking someone else would make this, and no one did,” Houda says. “So I kept going until I could.”

It took years of failed prototypes, material testing, and design iteration to get it right. Today, Bellar stands as a quiet but powerful disruptor not just in fashion, but in product development as a whole. It’s a brand born not from trend-following, but from lived experience and a desire to make something genuinely useful, beautiful, and new.

Available now – In limited quantities

The first Bellar hat collection is now available to order in the U.S. through the brand’s website: www.bellar.co. Each piece is handcrafted in small batches, and early customers are encouraged to use the code FIRST at checkout to receive 10% off their order.

This first drop is intentionally limited, and once sold out, customers will be placed on a waitlist for the next batch.
