Ancestral healing

Ancestral healing is a huge part of your soul's journey if you are looking to heal patterns that are holding you back and create a whole new pathway for more freedom, happiness, and purpose.

There are different methods to work with when it comes to ancestral healing. I would recommend starting with a Shamanic journey together with a facilitator who can guide you through the process. For more info about that, see below.

But there are many ways you can explore your connection with ancestors all by yourself!

One of the practices you can do is to journal.

Journaling prompts:

  • What was my ancestors' relationship to health?

  • What was my ancestors' relationship to family and love?

  • What was my ancestors' relationship to money and abundance? Was it a struggle, or were they financially successful?

  • How have I been impacted and programmed by their experiences?

  • What are the lessons I can learn from them?

You can ask yourself these questions in all areas of your life where you want to improve yourself, and not just the ones stated as examples above. If you don’t know a lot about your ancestors, you can start with just looking at your parents, and then their parents, so your grandmothers and grandfathers. You can also ask your family members questions, if possible.

If you are stuck in burnout and stress, for example, look at your ancestors' relationship to work, stress, and finances, and see if there is deeper healing necessary in that area so you can break that pattern for good.

Of course, doing deeper ancestral healing work is recommended that you do in a safe environment with a practitioner and/or healer who can guide you, if deep emotional wounds are surfacing.

But starting with journaling and reflection can take you a long way because reflection opens awareness, which is the first step towards healing!

Receive the blessings from your ancestors

In the same way that you journal on the healing. You will also find blessings, gifts, and strengths that you’ve received from your ancestors.

That is just as important as the healing when you are building a connection with your ancestors because they can guide you, support you, and protect you because of their wisdom and the lessons they have already learnt and passed on to you.

Maybe you notice that you have been programmed to be selfless and giving towards others because your ancestors have led by example, that is a beautiful gift. So now you can start to release the pain and negative patterns while deepening your capacity to hold the gifts and blessings.

When you master communicating with your ancestors and channel their powerful wisdom, you will notice an immense shift in how you operate in the world, how you feel supported, protected, and guided at all times.

Connecting to your spirit guides

Different cultures and spiritual traditions speak of Spirit guides in their different ways. I believe you can build your own perception of spirit guides and open yourself to receive

their guidance in ways that feel comfortable to you.

Spirit guides can be anything from a grandmother that you knew in your personal life that have passed away, to ancestors further up your line that you haven’t had a personal connection to in this life, angelic beings, or specific helpers in the angelic and earthly realms, such as power animals.

The easiest for most people to connect with are people they’ve known and can relate to. Especially if you don’t have a lot of experience connecting with the spirit world, a late grandmother usually feels safer to start connecting with, but sometimes you will have a spirit guide that chooses you, and you might not be aware of that, or even expect that.

How to connect with spirit guides

Doing shamanic journeys with an experienced facilitator and healer is an easy, direct way for you to have guidance in a safe environment to explore communication with the spirit world.

But if you’d like to get started yourself and get curious about your channeling, you can do that and notice big shifts from it.

What you can do is to meditate in silence, visualize a sacred place in nature where you can feel safe, and then start calling in and asking through intention for your spirit guides to show up in your sacred space.

You can also ask them questions in meditation, or you can journal your questions and notice how you receive answers either through words, sensations, images, or other ways that you intuitively can understand!

Another practice is to journal and ask a question to your spirit guides, and ask them for a specific symbol / sign to answer your question. For example, you can ask to see a white dove within the next 2 days to confirm something you want help with.

Doing this, you open up for a playful communication with your spirit guides, and you allow them to show up in direct ways for you! Try it and see what happens.
