Mr. H has waded treacherous waters and made it through to the other side. What lays in front of him is alien. Something he has never experienced before. Yet, it excites him.

“Is my Drive greater than the Resistance?”

“Is the Reward greater than the Risk?”

“Can I get through it all? How?”

The Direction

Ever since primary school, Mr. H has always been drawn to heroic stories.

It’s not that he wanted to be the hero. It’s people’s smiles and happy tears that render him great satisfaction, in his little imaginary world.

Helping others, particularly the underprivileged, has become his life-long ambition.

He has no aspiration to lead, but does not shy away from it either. He doesn’t set end goals, yet he is a big fan of performance metrics. And, although he has strong sense of what’s right and wrong, he accepts and understands other interpretations based on well-founded facts and circumstances. Humility and malleability constitute both his strength and weakness.

One thing’s for sure. All he ever wants, is doing his best in walking the path of general happiness, and be comfortable with the decisions and actions he makes.

Best he tried, and he’s ready for the next challenge. There’s enough reserve, there’s enough desire, and the Long-Term Direction had not shifted for years.

He also assumed, his previous knowledge, experience, and skills might not count. So, he attended one of the best business schools out there, measuring himself up against successful leaders of other fields, as well as acquiring the necessary tools to make connections and learn from them.

Having clarity on his past and current standings, he gained substantial confidence in his ability to learn, experiment, strategize and execute, safe from pure ignorance and arrogance.

That was enough to propel him off the ship.

The Energy

The initial energy dissipated as soon as he landed.

His work experience elsewhere is not enough to convince people in this new terrain.

This is a land of pride, prejudice, mistrust, negative attraction, inertia, immunity to change, competing interests, fear, scepticism, and/or protectionism. Dealing with these people is energy draining.

Mr. H is seasoned enough to know that he needs to generate enough positive energy to overcome the negative one. He needs to avoid overcharging himself, to remain focussed and grounded. He also needs to transfer his positive energy to others for their independent decisions and actions that, hopefully, aligns with his direction.

Understanding different people’s motives behind behaviours with Good Faith, and wishing all a better and happier life, makes his energy positive and transferrable.

All that is left for him to do is, keep improving and communicating with others during the day, and truthfully reflect his gap and progress compared against his Long-Term Direction during the night.

The Mechanism

Mr. H’s expertise in complex multi-stakeholder engagement, end-to-end customer experience satisfaction, and remote team management made him a skilled driver of the past.

Can the same skills apply to futuristic vehicles of alien terrains?

He is not sure.

“Does the new age value human emotions and desires the way they were valued for thousands of years?”

“Do people really want to become machines?”

“Do machines of God-like capabilities make people happy?”

“What makes people happy?”

“What if only a few are happy and most are left behind?”

“Can people rest comfortably watching others suffer?”

Let’s get back to the basics on how our minds work.

We are all influenced by the external world through our five senses, which are mingled with the sixth sense of emotions, desires, memories and habits. (see Chapter 1 – Born With It All (brainzmagazine.com) and Chapter 4 — Taichi Fortunate (brainzmagazine.com)).

And, we all have a goodness default setting – the Good Faith.

Current developing technologies such as AI, big data, blockchain, AR, VR, metaverse, CRM, robotics, automation, gene editing, artificial organs/food, quantum computing, space exploration, renewal energies, advanced materials… etc, all constitute the many mechanisms that either enhance our experiences on the internal and external worlds or make our livings and survivals easier and better.

The purpose has never deviated far from attempting Lasting Growth好生, Death Avoidance 離死, Far-Reaching Vision 正視, Good Information 長聽, Right Feeling 善感 and Lingering Taste 回味, physically and emotionally. NOT different from the traditional industries.

In fact, the better the integration between the traditional and the cutting-edge technologies and mechanisms, the fuller and the better the outcome will be. Good faith progress provides fertile ground for organic growths, making the pie bigger for everyone to share.

Because no single person truly possesses all the mechanisms to achieve all these, and the knowledge and skills Mr. H had picked up in the past are not useless to everyone in the foreseeable future, come the opportunity for mutually beneficial exchanges. The latest information technology makes it easier to make known, and he is doing exactly that.

Free And Happy

“The best things in life are free~”

Free of what? Threats? Restrictions? Obstacles? Conflicts? Exhaustions? Illnesses? Financial restraints? Illusions? Temptations? Coercions?

It varies, person to person. And the list goes on and on.

Perhaps the better question is, “why do we want to be free?”

Many would answer, “To be happy.” Some may even add, “And, be comfortable with the decisions and actions that I make.”

For Mr. H, it simply comes down to: go through it all, experience it all, memorise it all, and connect it all. Be the best he can and have good faith. The spontaneous mental reactions of emotionalization, internalisation, and processing will take its natural course 道法自然.

The world then becomes a lot flatter. The distance to travel then becomes a lot shorter.
