Who is Jasmine Clemente? Introduce yourself, your hobbies, your favorites, you at home and in business. Tell us something interesting about yourself.
Many moons ago, I became a successful recording dance artist in the NYC underground house music scene. However, after one of my soulmates passed away from drug and alcohol abuse, I took a break from the nightclub scene and pursued a spiritual path. I went from being an extroverted Diva on stage, to choosing silence inside of ashrams and meditation centers as I both mourned his death, and self-reflected on why I had tolerated toxic environments.
It wasn’t an overnight transformation, but as I dived deeper into the study of ancient Yoga and its three spiritual lineages, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism, I found myself less enthusiastic about performing and instead became a bit of a hermit. I think I needed to release an old identity, detaching from people, places, and things that kept me on an old timeline as I started to reinvent myself during a long period of isolation.
I started leaving the city to explore sacred destinations, until I visited Sedona, Arizona, where I fell deeply in love with its magical, scenic red rock mountains. It was then that I decided to write my first book, “Living in The Light: A Guide to Discovering and Manifesting Your Life Purpose” (2020). I felt that many of us pursue careers without realizing that we might be operating from ego instead of being led by spirit, and there is a significant difference between the two. Today, I find myself constantly writing as a means of self-reflection, healing, and finding solace in a fast-paced world, all while continuing to travel whenever I feel intuitively guided. I’ve come a long way from where I used to be, and it’s part of the reason I love helping other women who are also going through powerful transformations.
Speaking of change, a fun fact about me is that I love watching apocalyptic films! I know, it’s totally unrelated, but it’s one of my favorite things to do when I’m not working! What can I say? Talks about the end of the world actually pique my interest.
What inspired you to start your journey in holistic healing and spiritual guidance?
Since childhood, I have had a strong sense of intuition. I’d have dreams, premonitions, and even hear whispers that turned out to be divine messages. I just knew there was more to life than what meets the eye. In fact, on several occasions, I knew when someone was going to pass away just weeks or months before it would happen.
After writing my first book in 2020, which was intuitively guided, I decided not to return to recording music and instead started recording audio meditations while simultaneously becoming a certified Yoga Teacher. Despite having a background in entertainment, my real work was in leading people towards their higher self because I knew what it was like to live from our lower nature. I did a complete 360, turned over a new leaf, and said goodbye to an old life as I began teaching yoga philosophy that included chakra healing, the Yamas and Niyamas, and reciting quotes from the Tao as I tailored my classes around spiritual themes, followed by introducing journal therapy during candle gazing meditations. I find the history of Yoga extremely fascinating, as there is such a variety of lineages to focus on. Yet, they all revolve around one central message: Yoga is union.
Through combining the art of yoga and creative writing, I learned that people can tap into their own inner psychic or Shaman (if you will) when writing from a pure, relaxed state.
What sets your approach apart from others in the wellness and spirituality field?
I’m introducing the art of creative writing as the new medicine. It’s not a pill, a prescription, a supplement, or a diagnosis. It’s your mantra.
When you write, something profound happens: All the things that you keep inside, that could make you sick or worried, are liberated as you set them free through the power of handwriting. What enhances this ritual is being equipped with the knowledge of ancient wisdom, how words cast spells, become manifestations, and reveal hidden secrets we might’ve even kept from ourselves.
What sets me apart from other wellness professionals is how I’m inspiring more people to creatively write with the same energy they use to step foot on their yoga mat, to when they set their eyes to a blank page. I want that time of writing, from beginning to end, to be their sacred session, a place they come to clear their minds as they release their words, with every line awaiting their command.
What common struggles do your clients face before coming to you, and how do you help them overcome these?
Many women come to me wanting to write their first memoir who have never written a book before. Because they have a story to share, they need guidance on how and where to start. I’m here to boost their courage in writing their real story without the shame, guilt, or fear that usually casts a shadow over the process.
Some of these women are yoga students; others are not. But my approach to writing is to integrate certain yogic philosophies as a way to prepare the mind during the course, especially when revisiting past trauma. For example, Ahimsa means non-violence, which is the first limb of Yoga. I’ll ask my clients if they’re being violent to themselves whenever they doubt their capability to accomplish the task. That’s when I remind them that the first limb, Ahimsa, includes verbal and psychological abuse not only physical. Therefore, if how we speak to ourselves is discouraging or degrading, then we are harming ourselves, which goes against the very first principle of the eight limbs of yoga. And so, we’ll reverse our self-talk by empowering the mind to believe that we can, and will, complete the book (or blog) because we are wise, worthy, and deserving of sharing our story.
Depending on which spiritual lineage the client resonates with most, I can custom-make coaching sessions to align with their writing style, including the seven chakras, the eight limbs of Yoga, the feminine qualities of Yin, and more.
How do you use platforms like Insight Timer and social media to reach and support more people?
Insight Timer is such a powerful tool for wellness professionals. I offer pre-recorded guided meditations, premium talks, and complete online courses. The app already attracts millions of wellness professionals and enthusiasts, so your audience is guaranteed, which is a beautiful way to meet like-minded people. In addition, I post inspiring content on Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn to continue educating people with spiritual quotes, professional advice, and to give them a glimpse into my personal world.
In addition, whenever I travel, I take selfies to showcase my destination. I believe it’s essential for people to be introduced to beautiful environments, especially for writers who love wooden cabins nestled deep inside majestic forests. Writers tend to live for nature, so if I’m on a retreat (alone or with a group), I’ll take photos to post all over social media. I’m never short of amazed by how many wonderful travelers I meet both online and on the road. In fact, I wrote my bestselling book, “More Than One Soulmate,” during my trip to Tulum, Mexico, which turned out to be a haven for solo female travelers. Hence, it was through the power of social media that I was also able to promote my Author book signing held in NYC’s The Bookmark Shoppe, which reached a sold-out crowd.
What is the first step someone should take if they want to start their healing journey with you?
Whether you want to write your first book, start a blog, or begin therapeutic journaling, I’d love to help you write mindfully. You can visit my website, and send me an email, or click any of the packages in the About section. I also offer yoga classes both online and in-person. Depending on where you live, I’d love to see you on Insight Timer! To get a sense of my energy, feel free to listen to any of my free meditations. There’s so much that we can learn about someone through their voice, and I’d love for you to check in with your spirit and see how it feels.
