In March 2022, we eventually moved on to our new tiny home. We had been planning this for 2 1/2 years. Our dream was becoming a reality. We were moving onto our bespoke narrowboat named Never Two Late. We had drawn the plans and designed every inch of her to ensure she was perfect for our new life.

Boat house on the lake and forest in the backgound.

We had given away or sold all our furniture, cleared out all our cupboards, attended many car boot sales, and dropped off lots of bags at the charity shops because we would not have space or need so many of our accumulated possessions. We had hoarded over the years of being together. It's incredible how much stuff you think you need you don’t really.

Photographs and pictures had very sentimental value to me, so we took photos on our phones of special photographs and unframed our pictures so that they could be kept easily under friends' or relatives' beds just in case we ever wanted them again.

Why do you say am I telling you all this? I'm not bragging, as that’s not my nature. I am trying to explain that life is too short to stay somewhere you are not enjoying being in a relationship, a job, or a home. Also, you don’t need all the materialistic things we tend to buy and crave.

I still work, I write children's books, I practise hypnotherapy, and also, I help people through my life coaching practice, MKB Life Coach. Plus, my latest indulgence is chatting with fellow alternative living people on a podcast called “Alternative living chat.” Today's technology allows me to do all this whilst aboard the narrowboat. We moved around the waterways, saw the beautiful English countryside and met wonderful people.

What I am telling you is that you have one life, don’t waste it; make sure every minute of every day is filled with joy and makes you feel happy. Remember, if YOU don’t feel happy yourself, you cannot expect to make others around you feel happy. Spending time to make yourself HAPPY will enhance all your relationships around you, and you will be able to cope with situations so much better. You really don’t need to have loads and loads of possessions. Try having a clear-out and see how great you feel.
