How Aaron Keay Turned Sports Discipline Into Business Success Across Fitness, Finance, and Consumer Brands

Some people chase success. Others build it—piece by piece, over years of hard work, sharp instincts, and bold decisions.

Aaron Keay knows that journey well.

Today, Aaron is known as a venture capitalist, investor, and entrepreneur. But his story starts far from boardrooms and billion-dollar deals.

It starts on the soccer field.

From Sports to Startups: How Aaron Keay’s Journey Began

Aaron grew up in North Delta, a small suburb near Vancouver. Sports were everything to him.

“I played every sport I could,” he says. “But soccer and basketball were where I really found my passion.”

By his teens, Aaron wasn’t just playing for fun. He represented British Columbia in both soccer and basketball. Soon, he was playing soccer for Canada, traveling the world, and competing at the highest level.

He even played professionally in Europe and later for the Vancouver 86ers and Vancouver Whitecaps.

Through it all, he kept his focus on education. He earned a degree in Business and Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia in 2000.

The Shift: From Pro Athlete to Business Builder

Aaron’s first job after sports wasn’t in finance. It was in fitness.

“I became a personal trainer,” he says. “I loved coaching and seeing people grow stronger.”

But soon, his competitive spirit pulled him toward business.

He started working in corporate finance. That’s where he found a new passion—building companies from the ground up.

He entered the world of consumer products, health and wellness, and technology. His unique mix of discipline and risk-taking gave him an edge.

Spotting Trends Early: A Key To Aaron Keay’s Success

Aaron has a talent for spotting big ideas early.

He became one of the first investors in the legal cannabis industry. He helped take OrganiGram, the second-ever publicly listed cannabis company, to a $3 billion valuation at its peak.

But he’s careful not to dwell too much on that chapter.

“I saw an opportunity, created value, and exited before the bubble burst,” he explains. “It was about timing and knowing when to move on.”

Aaron’s focus shifted toward new opportunities. He now manages Klutch Financial, his family office, and invests through RX3 Growth Partners, a private equity fund backed by NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“I love investing in consumer brands that solve real problems,” he says.

Building More Than Businesses: Aaron Keay’s Passion Projects

Today, Aaron is also the founder of Kommunity Fitness—a high-end group fitness brand that blends boutique gym culture with video content.

He describes it as “the next evolution in fitness.”

The idea isn’t just about workouts. It’s about creating a space where people feel connected and motivated.

“I’ve always been passionate about fitness and competition,” Aaron says. “Kommunity is about bringing that passion to others in a fresh way.”

Why Giving Back Matters To Aaron Keay

Aaron’s success hasn’t made him forget where he came from.

Over the years, he has donated to causes close to his heart, including Music Heals, Kidsafe, and the Canadian Cancer Society.

One story stands out. When Sven Habermann, a former Whitecaps teammate, battled cancer, Aaron quietly stepped in to help.

“It wasn’t about publicity,” he says. “It was about helping a friend who needed it and I believe it accomplished that and Sven appreciated it.”

He also funds scholarships for students at his alma mater, focusing on those who excel in both academics and athletics.

“I know what it’s like to need a hand when you’re chasing your dreams,” he adds.

What Drives Aaron Keay Today

Though Aaron has reached many milestones, he’s far from slowing down.

He remains active in sports, playing golf at top clubs like Bighorn Country Club in Palm Desert and competing in fitness events like Hyrox.

He still plays poker, though only for fun these days.

And above all, he’s focused on raising his kids—both gifted athletes themselves.

“I want to show them that you can be competitive and driven, but still stay grounded,” Aaron says.

Aaron Keay’s Best Advice For Entrepreneurs

When asked what advice he would give others, Aaron keeps it simple.

“Stay curious,” he says. “Try new things, listen more than you speak, and don’t chase the spotlight. Focus on creating value. The rest will follow.”
