Let’s be honest: building a business you love will occasionally rattle your knees. Fear of judgment, fear of failure, even fear of dazzling success, can nudge you toward hesitation instead of bold action. But here’s the revelation: courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s acting from the heart while fear rides in the back seat.

A woman stands confidently facing a giant keyhole-shaped opening, looking out toward a bright cityscape beyond, surrounded by chalkboard-style business and strategy drawings.

Another truth: I’m a recovering perfectionist. Perfectionism was the excuse I used to tell myself I was striving for “higher standards”. What I learned is that this is merely a survival strategy rooted in fear and control, one that stalled momentum and drained my joy.

How I overcame: I started treating fear as data, not destiny. The results, fear became my rocket fuel.

Four soul-deep rituals to help you move forward

Name the fear and move your body

Fear thrives in mental loops; motion breaks the spell. Each morning, stand tall, roll your shoulders back, and voice the worry aloud: “I’m anxious about raising my prices.” Then take a 90-second power-walk, letting fresh oxygen and endorphins rewire the narrative. Neuroscience calls this a state shift.

Break vision into 15-minute courage blocks

A mountain feels intimidating until you divide it into stepping stones. Pick one needle-moving task: writing a pitch email, shooting a reel, refining your offer. Set a timer for 15 minutes, and start. When the buzzer sounds, celebrate the micro-win, breathe, and decide if you’ll add another block.

Borrow bravery from community

Confidence multiplies in good company. Gather two or three ambitious sisters and form a weekly “Courage Circle.” Agenda: each woman declares one brave action for the week, then reports back. Research shows entrepreneurs with strong peer accountability grow revenue 2.5 times faster than solopreneurs flying blind.

Quick tip: If you don’t have a circle yet, volunteer to host a virtual co-work session. Shared screens, shared silence, shared wins, fear melts when witnessed.

Document evidence of excellence to counter anxiety

Fear says, “Who am I to do this?” Your evidence journal answers, “Here’s who.” Each night, record three moments of impact, client praise, a brave “ask,” and a problem solved. In two weeks, you’ll hold pages of proof that you’re not guessing; you’re growing. Flip to any random entry the next time doubt tries to siphon your energy.

Remember: fear will always whisper, but purpose sings louder. Choose the song. Take the step. The world is waiting for the brilliance only you can bring.

Ready for a breakthrough?
