Everyone knows how valuable Facebook groups can be when it comes to marketing your business. However, are you aware of all the different ways you can leverage a FB group for marketing?

Let’s dive into the 23 different ways you can promote your business online in 2023 using Facebook Groups. While we are at it, if you’re looking for an engaged, business-related FB group with a ton of promotional opportunities, The BLIVE Movement is a great community to be a part of. Click here to join.

1. Community Chats

A community chat can be used to send an invite or announce something directly to the inbox of every community member. While some people in a group will not even view mass group messages like this, a percentage still will and can give you eyes on your announcement that you wouldn’t of had otherwise through traditional content because of the algorithm.

2. Intro Post

This is often an opportunity many people don't realize the value in. Therefore, they skip it. However, intro posts tend to get a lot of engagement just by default. So, leverage the chance to spotlight your business – especially if it's a first impression. Even if you’ve been in the group for a while, you can still do this as a “re-intro,” & it will have a similar effect. So, don’t skip this!

3. Written Content

Okay yes, we are taking it there. Clearly, you can write posts to market your business. So, this section is to bring more awareness as to how strategic that piece of written content is for both that group and your offer. Fundamental Qs to ask before choosing a group to promo in should be…

  • Are my ideal clients/customers involved in this group?

  • How engaged is this group?

  • What type of content/language will best speak to those people, AND is it allowed in this group?

Based on these questions, you may say yes to the first two but then realize your preferred way of marketing (video/events) are not allowed in that group or that they only allow promo on Wednesday in a thread with 100+ other people. Instead of waiting for your posts to get removed or wasting any time, run through these 3 quick Qs before choosing to promo in any group!

4. Video Content

There are many “types” of video content such as reels, workshops, lives, etc. Each type of content will work better for different audiences, messages, and CTAS. If you aren’t yet getting the marketing results you want, lean into what type of video content is the most applicable for your customers and begin to test your messaging through that avenue. However, many groups do not allow video content. So, if you prefer video content in the BLIVE community, we have options for you to post as little to an unlimited amount of video content within the group. For more info, click here.

5-7. Events Tab

The events tab is a goldmine of deliciousness if you let yourself realize it. Through the events tab, you can do 3 major things-create your own events, look for networking opportunities, & partner with the admin for all kinds of creative video content/events. Even if you aren’t physically hosting the event in that group, it is still smart to create an event in a related group and send invites to draw attention because you can just redirect to the proper location.

8. Pin To Top

If you are not the admin of the group, this is something you will need to ask permission for from the group admin. Getting any piece of your content or ads pinned to the top of group will allow it to get great exposure. Therefore, if you have something you would like pinned, reach out to the admin to offer an incentive or mutual benefit to have them pin your posts for X amount of time.

9. Sponsored Shoutout

Many group admins (or other group members) will give you or your work shoutouts if your work aligns with their brand and you are willing to sponsor them. Even if someone doesn’t openly promote they will do this. They likely will if you just ask with a good offer. Over in the BLIVE community fb group, not only do we allow unlimited video content and promotion, spots on our directory, pinning of the posts and more but, we also offer all different types of sponsored shoutouts. For more information, go to the BLIVE FB Group by clicking here and message the group admin for more info.

10. Promotional Support

Similar to a sponsored shoutout, many times you can seek additional paid promotional support from the group admin or even free group members who support your work. This can look like sharing of posts, reffering/tagging ideal customers, or even verbal vouches. As long as you have a mutually beneficial, creative mind, the opportunities are endless.

11. Collabs Swap

Every business owner is either looking for more exposure and/or help from another entrepreneur in some fashion. Over in the BLIVE FB group, we are constantly putting out content and events to intentionally create collaborations and partnerships. However, this can be done in other groups or even turned up a notch in the BLIVE group through you creating your own collab-initatating posts/events.

12. Buy/Sell Tab

This is going to be more effective for product-based businesses vs services but, can also be used for services. If you have a product-based business, groups that have their buy/sell tab activated may be a great lead source for you.

13. Hashtags (yes, even on FB)

When you use a hashtag in a group, it creates a “thread” behind it. Also, FB will show other group members “tags” that are mentioned in the group and will ask if they want to view them from time to time. So, if you repeatedly use hashtags (even yes on FB in groups) that align with your ideal clients, you’re bringing in a much higher chance for them to see your content.

14. Creating Polls

Polls are a great way to “lightly” market as they indirectly sell for you by creating buzz. They are also a great way to get people who wouldn't normally, interact with posts since it's just a vote vs. comment.

15. Member Spotlights

Many groups offer weekly or monthly “spotlights” or “celebrations” for other people. If you wish to be

spotlighted, ask the admin what their requirements are or offer to sponsor if they don't already have an opportunity created.

16. Create A “Guide/File”

If you’d like to be viewed as an expert and/or would like to bring more traction to your email lists/funnels, I highly recommend you take one of your freebies and submit it as a “guide” or “file” to the group. This will give it permanent exposure in the group similiar to a “pinned post” since there a whole tab for “files” or “guides” group members can choose from. In most cases, this is also a free feature you do not need permission to use in many groups as well.

17. Featured Tab

The “feautured” tab are all the peices of content are pinned to the top of the group.

Some admins will not want to pin other content to the tops of their groups due to the announcement they want to top eyes on. So, in cases like this, see if you can be atleast pinned to the featured instead of “pushed to the top.” This will allow your post to atleast be in the thread of the top pinned posts if not pinned as the first couple itself.

18. Become A Listed Expert

In some groups you can get a “title” listed after your name (ex-”marketer”) so that when other people see your posts or comments, they will know what you do right off the bat.

19. Directories

Similar to a listed expert but, better. Here you are able to list links, descriptions, or a more in depth title. Many people choose to use directories when they are ready to hire on the spot. So, it is definitely worth it to list yourself places if you are ready to take on more business. Note – not all Facebook groups will have directories in general and also may not get many eyes on it.

In the BLIVE Movement, we actively promote our directory out to the public and it is only 10/mo (or 50/yr USD) to register yourself out to the hundreds of thousands of people we touch in our audience. To sign up for the BLIVE directory, click here.

20. Be The Solution

Never post and ghost! Not only is it non-reciprocal energy but, if you take a few minutes out to check the timeline of the groups you are posting in you'll see that there are people everywhere asking questions and presenting problems. Especially if you have a service-based business like being a VA, taking a few minutes out to scout the timeline could lead you to a direct post of somebody looking to hire a VA.

21. Media

“Media,” such as all photos and videos, get saved to a group’s whole separate tab. With this being said, instead of posting selfies with every marketing posts, choose a more direct marketing photo to upload. Meaning if somebody just scrolled past your photo in the media tab, would it speak the message you want to convey or does it just look good?

22. Facebook Rooms

These are similar to a Facebook live or zoom call with pros and cons. Some of the pros is that you can send a notification to all group members when you open the room and also have them “in” the video room with you as if you were holding a room conference. The con to this is that once you shut the room out, the content is lost. So, unless you record your FB room intentionally, plan for the chat to basically be deleted once you are done with it. In some cases, this could also be a pro still.

23. Join The FB Group As Personal Profile AND Business Page

By doing this, not only can you have double exposure for the came content, but “pages” have their own separate tab in the “members” section. Additionally, as of right now, not many “pages” join fb groups. Therefore, when anybody views the member tab in the groups you’re in, your business page will stand out.
