Penelope Ling
Solution-focused Hypnotherapist
Penelope Ling grew up in the multicultural melting pot of London during the 60s and 70s. Working in newspapers and magazines as a graphics journalist and art editor, she later moved on to web design and e-commerce database building. Unhappy in the world of IT, she retrained as a solution-focused hypnotherapist in 2007.
Here she found that helping others sat well with her own value system. Having suffered from so many phobias over the years and conquering them during her training, it was a simple decision to help others overcome their limitations.
Later, she added nutritional therapy, as the connection between body and mind is vital in maintaining a positive mindset.
She has developed a reputation for helping those with fear of driving and in 2020 she published her book “Driving me crazy - overcome the fear of driving”. She has been a regular guest on BBC local radio and relevant podcasts talking about how your general stress affects fears and phobias, and a contributor to Happiful magazine and other nationals.
Her second specialty is to help those with phagophobia, a fear of swallowing, which also incorporates gagging and losing one’s ability to speak when addressing an audience. This has led her to a worldwide client base with a wide range of people, from one with brain damage because of a stroke, to top execs needing to perform public speaking duties.
Despite having dyslexia, Penelope recognises that many of us have something which makes us different and that doesn’t have to be a handicap. By finding solutions to these problems, we can overcome them.
