Mark Durieux

Sociologist and Educator

Mark Durieux is a sociologist and educator with over two decades of university teaching experience, specializing in introductory, environmental, economic, urban, and public sociology, as well as sociological research methods. Lead co‑author of Social Entrepreneurship For Dummies, he works at the intersection of scholarship and practice, advancing social entrepreneurship, equity, and democratic engagement in communities and organizations in Canada and abroad. Mark is the developer of the Generative AI app The Sociological Imagination (https://sociomind-kbe68wqf.manus.space/), which he uses to help students, practitioners, and the broader public experiment with sociological thinking in accessible, creative ways.

He writes and publishes widely to democratize sociological knowledge and invite people into critical yet hopeful conversations about how societies can change for the better.
