Complex Concussion Clinician

Lindsay Branton is a Registered Kinesiologist and Director of Brain Health & Concussion Care at EPIC Health & Movement in Brampton, Ontario. She specializes in the assessment and rehabilitation of complex and persistent concussion cases, particularly when symptoms have continued despite previous treatment.

Her approach is grounded in a simple idea: concussion recovery is not just about identifying what is impaired, but understanding how a person’s brain and body have adapted to those impairments over time. Rather than viewing vision, balance, vestibular function, movement, exercise tolerance and cognition as isolated systems, Lindsay looks for the relationships between them, the compensations a person has developed, and what happens as demands on the system increase.

Her assessments place a strong emphasis on function and capacity. Someone may perform well under one set of conditions yet struggle when movement, visual information, cognitive demand or physical exertion are layered together. By progressively challenging the system and examining where performance begins to change, Lindsay works to identify patterns that can help explain why someone continues to struggle in everyday life.

Lindsay’s work is also deeply informed by lived experience. After sustaining more than 14 concussions herself and experiencing firsthand how difficult it can be to find answers when symptoms persist, she became committed to helping address gaps in concussion care. That experience continues to shape how she listens to patients, approaches complex presentations and advocates for people who feel they have exhausted their options.

Lindsay has completed education in concussion rehabilitation, cervical assessment and management, ocular-motor dysfunction and medical neuroscience, and continues to pursue education in applied neurology and brain health.

Through her clinical work, writing and education, Lindsay hopes to help change how persistent concussion symptoms are understood and approached. Her message to those who have been struggling for months or years is simple: Persistent doesn’t mean permanent.
