Carol’s Story

She qualified in 1973 as a State Registered Nurse. Soon after, she married, gave up her career and followed her husband in his job. They spent two years living in Tehran, followed by another 2 years in Qatar from 1980.

In Doha she promoted round the world trips for Cathay Pacific and was sent on a sales course to Hong Kong. When they returned to England, in 1982 she started cooking for people’s freezers and dinner parties until a client, who was a head hunter, offered to write her resumé.

It was then Carol started to believe in herself. In 1990 she joined forces with a business partner as a management consultant. They formed Quality Business Management Ltd. She worked with manufacturing companies who were applying for certification in ISO9000.

A few years on QBM changed direction and Carol ran teamworking and presentation skills workshops.

In 1993 the stress of divorce, her mother’s passing and moving house, all within a year, took its toll on Carol and she was admitted to a psychiatric ward for a week with what was called ‘a breakdown’. Afterwards she continued working and searching to try and understand herself.

She married again in 2003.

In 2007 she qualified as a trainer in NLP, Timeline TherapyⓇ and Hypnosis, when she founded Breakthrough Retreat. She moved to Ireland in 2010.

Carol has 2 children and 5 grandchildren.

In 2021 Carol’s husband, and soul mate, passed away. Since then she has chosen to lead a quieter life.

She joined an online creative writing class in 2024 and is writing her first novel.

Carol has been a member of Toastmasters International for over 10 years.

She still works with clients and runs the occasional group workshops.
