Alex Manos
Elite Athlete Life Coach
As a self-confessed high performer, perfectionist, bad loser, and constant learner, Alex Manos understands the demands and challenges of trying to keep calm, balanced, and composed while still setting audacious dreams and having high aspirations.
Growing up as the youngest of three boys, continuously playing catch-up and always striving to be better, smarter, sportier, and just overall outperforming his two brothers, Alex developed certain character traits such as dedication, commitment, ambition, and drive. However, this mindset also led to a constant feeling of not being good enough, staying stuck in a world of comparison to others, and believing that external validation was key to feeling good.
Alex achieved the awards, got the grades, attended the best university, landed a prestigious job with a great salary, yet it was never enough. When everything came crashing down—losing his job, home, partner, and salary—he turned inward and began a journey of self-awareness and personal growth at the age of 36.
Reflecting back, he remembers always being drawn to adult conversations as a young child, listening and learning things that were perhaps beyond his years. Fast forward 15 years, and Alex had finished his degree and landed his first job at the professional football club, Crystal Palace, where he spent 3 years, initially with the academy and then with the first team. He went on to pursue a master’s degree and returned from Australia to work in a physiotherapy clinic in London. Four years later, he had the opportunity to return to Crystal Palace as the Head of the Medical Department for 6 years. He then worked with a professional tennis player for a year before returning to private practice.
In 2017, while facing personal challenges, Alex invested time, energy, and money into therapy and self-development. He trained to become a yoga teacher and later started training to be a Personal Performance Coach. During the COVID pandemic, he transitioned away from physiotherapy and began focusing more on coaching. Today, he splits his time between both.
Over the past few years, Alex focused on helping other healthcare professionals with coaching but has now shifted his attention to elite performers and athletes. Having spent 25 years in high-performance sport at the highest level, he truly understands that world. He’s lived it, breathed it, and emerged with a new perspective—a healthier, more grounded view of what it truly takes to be an elite athlete.
