2. Create a free Canva account

After selecting your template, create a free Canva account to start editing your design. Canva allows you to fully customize your template by changing fonts, colors, backgrounds, and other design elements at no cost. If you need additional guidance beyond the provided instructions, there are plenty of free Canva tutorials available on YouTube or a quick Google search away. 3. Take a screenshot of your article

After selecting your template and signing up for a free Canva account, the next step is to take a screenshot of your article to include in the mockup within your template. Adjust your web browser to an iPad view, then capture a screenshot. Make sure to leave some white space on the sides of the screenshot so the image and text don’t bleed into the mockup area. (If your template includes a desktop mockup, ensure you take a full-width screenshot of your article.)

The process for taking a screenshot may vary depending on your device:

  • Mac: Press Shift + Command + 5.

  • Windows: Press Shift + Windows + S.

1. Choose template

Start by selecting where you’d like to publish your post. Is it Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn? Click the button below to choose the template that fits your preferred platform.

Note: You can use the Facebook template as an Instagram post, as Instagram supports multiple aspect ratios. Similarly, the Instagram Story template can also be used as an Instagram Reel if you prefer.

4. Upload your screenshot

After taking your screenshot, upload it to Canva. You can either drag your screenshot directly into the Canva template or use the Upload button located on the left-hand side in Canva.

Now drag the screenshot over the mockup area, and it will automatically adjust to fit the designated space. If your article doesn’t fit well in the mockup, try taking another screenshot with a different width for the best results.

Try to avoid having the text in your article bleed into the sides of the mockup. It may take a few attempts to get the best result. Leave some white space on the sides of your article in the screenshot to prevent this issue and ensure a clean, professional look.

5. Customize the template

With the Canva template, you can easily change background colors, fonts, text, and any other design elements to match your preferences. Adjust the template however you like to ensure it fits your style and article perfectly.

6. Export and publish

When you’re finished editing and satisfied with the result, export your design as a JPG or PNG file. Once exported, you can upload and share it on your chosen social media platform, whether it’s Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn.

  1. Click Share in the top-right corner of Canva.

  2. Select Download from the menu.

  3. Under File Type, choose JPG or PNG.

  4. Under Select page, pick your edited template.

  5. Click Download to save the file to your device.
