  • Angeline Chan, Holistic Life & Career Coach, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

I am a certified holistic life & career coach, and an Associate Credited Coach (certified by the International Coaching Federation), and I've had many years of feeling like an imposter through my career.   If you've ever felt a weight bearing down on you, making you feel anxious just thinking about speaking up, and stopping you from taking on challenges that would help you grow (professionally or otherwise)? I understand that. I was that person. And when I did take action, I would feel like an imposter, worried that someone would expose me for who I am: a fraud.   It didn't matter that people said I did a good job, if one person said otherwise, it obviously meant that I wasn't. And I actually believed that this narrative was serving me and was responsible for my "success". It wasn't until I felt myself freeze up during a meeting one day, wondering "why would these brilliant people want my opinion?" that I realised that I was in fact engaging in self-sabotaging behaviours.   I went through a long journey of learning to manage my imposter feelings, and realised at some point, that those heavy feelings were no longer hanging around, holding me back. I managed to advocate for my own promotion, and had the courage to change my career to a full-time life and career coach   Yes, I would still have those feelings of being an imposter come up once in a while, but instead of consuming me, they would show up for just a couple of moments, and then pass.   What I've found is that it is only when you recognise that your imposter narrative is actually NOT serving you, and start taking action towards releasing its hold on you, that you can truly start to live authentically, confidently, and maximise your potential.   If my story resonates with you, follow me here, or visit my website to join a free masterclass, and find out how these imposter narratives are actually sabotaging you, and how to start making a change so you can thrive in your career without all those negative feelings about your competence weighing you down! • Dr. Anna M L Smith, Holistic Mind-Body Doctor , Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

Dr. Anna M L Smith Dr. Anna has dedicated the latter part of her career to exploring the profound connection between the mind and body and its impact on overall well-being. Her journey from a challenging childhood in England to becoming an advocate for a holistic approach to health is both inspiring and transformative. Early Life and Personal Challenges Dr. Anna was born and raised in the South of England, where her early years were shaped by a family environment marked by adversity. Growing up, she faced challenges, but none as impactful as the loss of her sister to an eating disorder. This tragedy happened during Dr. Anna’s first term at St Bartholomew’s Medical School in London. The death of her sister was a pivotal moment in her life. It prompted a journey of self-discovery. She began to realize the significance of lifestyle and emotional well-being on health. Through personal growth, she found that making positive changes to her own lifestyle habits improved her mental and physical health. This experience ignited her emerging interest in understanding how lifestyle factors influence overall health. Academic and Professional Beginnings Dr. Anna’s academic journey took her to St Bartholomew’s Medical School in London, where she pursued her medical degree with dedication and commitment. After qualifying she embarked on a diverse career path, working in various hospitals in London and Surrey. Her experience provided her with a solid foundation in general medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry and paediatrics and she undertook further studies to become a General Practitioner. Her work introduced her to the complexities of patient care. She has worked as a GP for nearly 30 years. Despite her career in conventional medical practice, Dr. Anna felt a growing desire to explore alternative approaches to health. Her own experiences with lifestyle changes had made her acutely aware of the limitations of traditional Western medicine in addressing the holistic aspects of well-being. This realization led her to another decision: to diversify her career and follow her passion for holistic health. A Shift Towards Holistic Health Seven years ago, Dr. Anna started her journey of exploration which led her to discover medical acupuncture, a practice that resonated deeply with her evolving understanding of health. She pursued formal training in medical acupuncture, earning her a Certificate and Diploma from the British Medical Acupuncture Society in London. The benefits of medical acupuncture were profound and aligned with her holistic philosophy. This practice complemented her growing interest in holistic health. She sought further education to deepen her knowledge and skills. Expanding Expertise in Lifestyle Medicine Dr. Anna’s quest for a comprehensive understanding of health led her to study Lifestyle Medicine, a field that addresses the impact of daily habits and lifestyle choices on health outcomes. She completed her Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine with The British Society of Lifestyle Medicine, an accomplishment that enriched her expertise in the field. Her exploration didn’t stop there. Dr. Anna recognized the importance of behavioural change in achieving sustainable health improvements and thus pursued various coaching courses. One of the notable courses she undertook was Tiny Habits Coaching, which equips individuals with strategies to make lasting behavioural changes through small, manageable steps. Integrating Mind-Body Connection As Dr. Anna’s career evolved, she became increasingly interested in the intricate relationship between the mind and body. This interest led her to study and become a SIRPA (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners’ Association) practitioner. The SIRPA approach focuses on how stress and emotional factors contribute to physical and mental health issues, offering a comprehensive framework for understanding and addressing these challenges. By integrating her knowledge of medical acupuncture, lifestyle medicine, and mind-body connections, she developed a holistic coaching and mentoring approach to health. Her practice is designed to support individuals in achieving optimal well-being through a balanced and personalized approach. A Passionate Advocate for Holistic Health Dr. Anna’s personal experiences and professional achievements have shaped her approach to health care, emphasizing the importance of addressing the whole person rather than merely treating symptoms. She specialises in chronic pian and the ‘medically unexplained symptoms’- when a patient suffers symptoms, but all investigations are normal. Today, Dr. Anna offers a holistic coaching and mentoring service, which aims to empower individuals to take control of their health and well-being. Her approach is rooted in the belief that true health encompasses not only the absence of illness but also the presence of balance and harmony in all aspects of life. In her practice, she combines her experience as a GP of 30 years alongside medical acupuncture, lifestyle medicine, and a mind-body approach to offer comprehensive support to her patients. She is committed to helping individuals navigate their unique health journeys, offering personalized guidance and strategies to enhance their overall quality of life. Summary Dr. Anna’s career is an example of how personal experiences and professional expertise can intersect to create a meaningful impact on health. This holistic approach to health reflects her deep understanding of the interconnection between the mind and body, and her commitment to helping others achieve optimal well-being. As she continues to inspire and guide individuals on their health journeys, she remains a passionate advocate for holistic health, embodying the principles she believes in. • Dr. Zrinka K. Fidermuc Maler, Executive Advisor, Leadership Strategist & Author, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

Dr. Zrinka K. Fidermuc Maler is an executive advisor, leadership strategist, and author of The Hat and the Hill. For more than two decades, she has worked with executives, leadership teams, and complex organizations at the intersection of decision-making, human behavior, organizational transformation, and performance under pressure. Her professional journey spans finance, international relations, research and innovation policy, leadership development, and executive advisory. She is particularly interested in what happens after strategic decisions have been made: why intelligent people and capable organizations often know exactly what should happen next—and still struggle to translate that knowledge into consistent action. Her advisory work helps senior leaders reduce complexity without oversimplifying it, challenge assumptions and blind spots, strengthen judgment, and translate clarity into practical decisions and behavior. Her philosophy is simple: an advisor should strengthen executive judgment, not replace it. Dr. Zrinka holds a PhD in international relations and university degrees in German language and literature and Italian language and literature. Her interdisciplinary and international background, combined with more than two decades of working directly with people and organizations, shapes an approach that brings together rigorous thinking, human behavior, and practical implementation. Her book, The Hat and the Hill, brings together science and lived experience, leadership and the body, midlife, identity, hormones, ambition, culture, absurdity, and humor. Written primarily for women entering the second half of life, it challenges inherited stories about aging, femininity, success, leadership, and what a woman’s life is supposed to look like after forty-five. At its core is a question of sovereignty: What happens when a woman stops negotiating against herself and begins authoring the next part of her life on her own terms? Dr. Zrinka K.
