  • Ayiesha Malik, Integrative Doctor, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

Dr. Ayiesha Malik is an experienced General Practitioner who splits her time between the NHS and private sector, offering a well-rounded perspective on modern healthcare's strengths and limitations. As a GP, Dr. Malik is highly skilled in addressing a wide range of medical concerns, from routine checkups to diagnosing complex conditions. Her approach to medicine is not only rooted in evidence-based practice but also reflects a keen awareness of the limitations of conventional treatments, especially in managing chronic illnesses. Dr. Malik believes that modern medicine has made significant strides in treating acute infections, particularly with the use of antibiotics, which are highly effective for short-term, targeted interventions. However, she has observed that when it comes to chronic health issues—such as diabetes, hypertension, and autoimmune diseases—the available treatments often fail to address the root causes. Chronic conditions, which frequently require long-term management, are complex and multifaceted, and Dr. Malik has found that many pharmaceutical solutions focus on symptom control rather than addressing the underlying imbalances or lifestyle factors that contribute to these conditions. She has noted that some medications, though helpful in managing symptoms, may inadvertently add to a patient’s overall disease burden, leading to medication dependency or additional side effects that compound over time. Committed to providing holistic care, Dr. Malik advocates for a more integrated approach to chronic disease management. She encourages lifestyle modifications, preventive measures, and, when appropriate, alternative therapies to complement standard medical treatments. By acknowledging both the power and the limits of pharmaceuticals, Dr. Malik emphasizes a patient-centered approach that seeks to improve quality of life without relying solely on medication. Her perspective aligns with a growing body of healthcare professionals who are calling for a shift toward more sustainable, patient-empowered care models that promote overall well-being rather than mere symptom suppression. In her practice, Dr. Malik actively collaborates with her patients to explore therapeutic options that align with their unique needs and health goals. Her work is driven by a commitment to reduce the impact of chronic diseases, helping patients to understand their conditions and take proactive steps toward better health, ultimately aiming to foster resilience and independence in managing long-term health challenges. • Natasha King, Yoga Teacher / Wellbeing Mentor, Executive Contributor at Brainz Magazine

A journey of healing, trust, self-love, practice & BEING. A decade ago, Natasha lived a very different life, a single parent juggling a portfolio career that spanned travel agency, retail, hospitality, glamping, the surf industry and more. With a constant need to make others proud and nagging sense of inadequacy, plagued with eczema, asthma and with a fragile immune system, while outwardly confident, her self-esteem lay in tatters and eventually something had to give. January 2014 along came viral encephalitis and BOOM, CHANGE! A forced stop! Unable to speak coherently with compromised neural pathways, Natasha spent five months off work, undergoing speech therapy and finding solace in doing nothing. An inner voice of guidance immerged: YOGA, YOGA, YOGA Introduced to yoga in 1999 she knew within the power of this healing practice. In February 2016 Natasha was finally recovered enough to embark on a 200hours Yoga with Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy immersive training in Thailand. YOGA & TRAVEL – A healing prescription and kick start to an unexpected career! Yoga released old ideas of who she was & what she should be, gave an understanding of presence and a desire to heal & learn and consequently unveiled an inner KNOWING, VIBRANCY & PEACE. A chance workshop at a retreat led her to discover TRE (Trauma Release Exercises), patterns of trauma held within unravelled and stubborn insomnia and anxiety abated, two years later she qualified as a Certified TRE Provider. With parenting a teen, work, weekly yoga classes & TRE workshops, her health tittered on the edge once again and a Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra training (2018) offered solace. DO I QUALIFY? Natasha King Yoga Teacher / Wellbeing Mentor A journey of healing, trust, self-love, practice & BEING.
