Why Brené Brown and Adam Grant Are Making the Case for Curiosity Over Certainty

Brené Brown and Adam Grant have built their careers asking difficult questions about leadership, human behavior, work, and connection. Now, they are bringing those perspectives together in The Curiosity Shop, their weekly podcast launched earlier this year.

Vox Media

Created in partnership with Vox Media, the show is centered around learning and “unlearning,” encouraging listeners to slow down, ask better questions, and embrace complexity rather than reaching for easy answers.

The partnership is particularly fitting given Brown and Grant’s own history. In 2016, the two had a public disagreement about authenticity and didn’t speak for four years. They eventually reconnected, collaborated professionally, and a decade after their original disagreement, became podcast co-hosts.

That journey makes the message behind The Curiosity Shop especially relevant.

For leaders and entrepreneurs, curiosity can mean being willing to reconsider an assumption, listen to an opposing perspective, or admit that the first answer may not be the best one. In a culture that often rewards confidence and certainty, Brown and Grant are making a different case: strong thinking requires being willing to rethink.

Perhaps that is what makes their collaboration so compelling. The Curiosity Shop isn’t built around two experts agreeing on everything. It is built around what can happen when intelligent people remain curious enough to keep the conversation going.

Readers can listen to The Curiosity Shop on major podcast platforms, with new episodes released every Thursday.
