UK-Based Spotlight Poetry Showman Ayomide Inufin Wins Poetry Award in London

It was indeed an amazing night for literature as creatives, artists, and their lovers converged at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, Kensington, London, for the 2025 Wordplay Poetry Awards on October 4th, 2025.

Spotlight Poetry Creator and The Oba of Poetry himself, Ayomide Inufin, known as Ayomide D’Great - a Nigerian UK-based Creative Writer, Poet, and Artist, emerged as the Winner in the Best Spoken Word Newcomer Category. He won this Award Category after a careful voting decision from the Award Body.


Several hundreds of submissions were received by Wordplay and Flow, it was specifically reported that about 1,856 submissions were submitted, it was then shortlisted to 1,000, and then to a Top 100 list, to a long-list of 40 submissions and then to a standing 10 submissions and to the final 3 nominations.


Additionally, it was further reported that he won by a very far margin in the category, which gave him a clear victory.


Ayomide Inufin, also known as Ayomide D'great, is a multi-award-winning Nigerian writer, poet, author, public speaker, and creative artist currently based in the United Kingdom.


Ayomide is known for his modern-day poetry that addresses societal issues, real-life situations, culture, and community trends, particularly those relevant to the African and Nigerian experience. He has written several poetry collections, with his work often featured in libraries and at events, including a "Poetry Corner" in Manchester libraries. Furthermore, he was a supporting headliner at the UK’s first Poetry Expo held in Liverpool, United Kingdom. Furthermore, he is regarded as a “Spotlight Poetry Showman” at Utopia Theatre a Sheffield-based Art hub that celebrates creativity.


As a spoken word artist, he is a nationally recognised performer who has featured at various creative hubs and open mic events, such as the "Pull Up and Speak Event" in Manchester. He is also a content creator, social media manager, creative writer, storyteller, and copywriter. He has served as a brand influencer for "The Norchi Jalab," a clothing brand.


He is a Postgraduate of the University of Salford, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom, where he earned a Master’s degree in Creative Writing, Innovation and Experiment.
