We all want to be profitable, and by profitable, I don’t necessarily mean cash. Profitability means different things to different people. Whatever your definition of profitability is, this process well practiced is guaranteed to get you there.

What’s this process?

It is V+C = P. This process was made known by the founder and Chief Visionary Officer of BNI. When you look at it as a formula against a process, you will lose the total effect. It is a process, a series of events to produce a result.

In our various businesses, we all network for different reasons, which all ball down to profitability. How do you get to the point where you start to benefit from your networking?

Every successful relationship is unique to each individual. It usually starts casual, informal, or sometimes cold.

The V is Visibility

This phase happens to be the phase we all have the opportunity to experience, but more often than not, we do not take advantage or leverage on it. We are constantly meeting people (Physically & Virtually). These people could be potential clients or people who can refer you to your potential clients. Either way, it’s important to be intentional at this phase. This phase creates recognition and awareness. In this phase, you have the opportunity to put yourself out there in the way you want to be perceived. , the greater your visibility, the more well known you would be, the more opportunities you would be exposed to. It is important to maintain this phase actively. You will have to develop this phase to move to the next phase, credibility.

The C is Credibility

This is an important quality to possess. It is about being reliable. Once you have gained visibility, your network will certainly increase, expectations are formed, and they have to be fulfilled. Any relationship will die when expectations or promises are not kept. Information you have put out in the visibility phase will all be verified somehow. At this point, you have set expectations, and you have to live up to them.

The P is Profitability

The part we have been waiting for. At this point, the relationship is “full bloom.” It has matured and would start yielding fruits. You may want to ask if it is mutually rewarding. At this point, you have developed a profitable relationship, whether business or personal.
