Tati Rainer, LinkedIn Profile Expert & Interview Coach

Introduce yourself! Please tell us about you and your life, so we can get to know you better.

Hi, I’m Tati Rainer, a LinkedIn Profile Expert and an Interview Coach with over 25 years of corporate experience. I’m also a wife and mother who thrives on empowering others to break barriers and achieve their dreams. Beyond my professional world, I love spending time with my family, exploring new places, and soaking in life’s little joys. Having lived and worked in Brazil and Canada, I bring a multicultural perspective that fuels my mission to help professionals and entrepreneurs stand out in today’s competitive world.

What inspired you to transition from a corporate leadership role to becoming an interview coach and LinkedIn Profile Expert?

My own journey inspired me. Since 2006, I aced 17 hiring processes in a row, 11 of them in Canada. After years of climbing the corporate ladder and successfully navigating these job offers, I realized I had uncovered the secret formula to acing interviews and positioning myself as a sought-after professional. Helping others replicate this success became my purpose. I’ve seen too many talented individuals undersell themselves, and I knew I could make a difference by equipping them with strategies to shine.

With your impressive success in job applications, what do you believe is the most overlooked factor in excelling during interviews?

Authenticity. Too many candidates try to fit into a mold they think the employer wants rather than showcasing their unique strengths. Employers don’t just hire skills; they hire individuals who align with their culture and values. Confidence and authenticity create a lasting impression, but they require preparation, self-awareness, and a strong personal brand to shine.

How do you tailor LinkedIn profile optimization strategies for professionals versus entrepreneurs?

For professionals, I focus on showcasing their achievements, skills, and career progression while aligning their profiles with industry-specific keywords to attract recruiters. For entrepreneurs, it’s about building authority, telling their story, and positioning them as thought leaders in their niche. Both strategies aim to make them unforgettable to their target audiences but are carefully customized based on their goals.

Can you share a specific success story where your coaching helped a client achieve a transformative career breakthrough?

My first client had gone through 30 interviews in the past year without any success. When he reached out to me, we only had two hours to prepare before his interview. In that short time, I coached him on how to present his strengths confidently, tailored his responses using proven techniques, and helped him shift his mindset. The result? He aced the interview and got hired. What I didn’t know until we met in person was the deeper impact of this success. His wife was living in a different province here in Canada, and landing this job not only brought him back to the industry where he had the most experience but also reunited him with his wife. She was so grateful that she even sent me a thoughtful gift. This wasn’t just about a job; it was about transforming a life and bringing a family back together. Moments like this are why I do what I do.

What common mistakes do you see professionals make when building their personal brands on LinkedIn?

The biggest mistake is treating LinkedIn like a digital resume rather than a personal branding platform. Many people fail to use their headlines strategically, neglect their profile photos, or write summaries that lack personality. Another common misstep is being overly formal or passive instead of engaging with content and sharing their insights. LinkedIn is where opportunities are created; it is not a place to be invisible.

As an Executive Contributor for Brainz Magazine, what key message do you hope to convey to a global audience about career branding and LinkedIn optimization?

Your career is your story—own it. The way you present yourself on LinkedIn and in interviews can open doors to opportunities you never imagined. My message is simple: Be intentional about your personal brand. It’s not just about finding a job; it’s about positioning yourself as a leader and creating the career or business you deserve.

Tell us about your greatest career achievement so far.

Helping dozens of professionals and entrepreneurs transform their careers is, without a doubt, my greatest achievement. Witnessing someone land their dream job, rebuild their confidence, or launch a successful business through the strategies I’ve shared is what fulfills me the most.

If you could change one thing about your industry, what would it be and why?

I would change the mindset around job searching and personal branding. Too often, people undervalue their worth and fail to see themselves as assets. I want to inspire a shift where everyone realizes the power of investing in their career branding. It is not an expense; it is a transformation.

Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

Moving to Canada was life-changing. I had to rebuild my career from scratch, but with every challenge came a lesson. Learning to navigate the job market, crafting my story, and building my network taught me the value of resilience. It’s this journey that shaped my expertise and passion for helping others succeed, no matter where they start.
