Words have incredible power, especially when it comes to the conversations, we have with ourselves. Using the right words and positive self-talk can have an impact on our productivity, focus, and overall well-being. As a busy wife, mother of two, entrepreneur, and corporate coach and trainer, I know firsthand how easy it is to get overwhelmed with all the tasks on our to-do list. That is why I make a conscious effort to use the power of words to stay positive and productive throughout the day.

Here Are Three Simple Techniques That I Use Daily To Stay Calm, Focused, And Get Things Done:

1. Practice Gratitude

Every morning, I start my day with a simple gratitude exercise. I sit in a meditative position, close my eyes, place my hand on my heart, and think about all the things in my life that I am grateful for. This could be anything from my family and friends to recent experiences, to things I am looking forward to in the future. By starting my day with gratitude, I set a positive tone for the rest of the day and can handle any challenges that come my way. This positive self-talk helps me shift my mindset and focus on what matters and why I do what I do every day.

2. Use Positive Self-Talk

A small negative thought like “This day is going to be so busy” or “I am so overwhelmed right now” or “I will never get this done” can lead us to a negative spiral of thoughts, influencing our emotions, making us feel defeated, and eventually losing motivation to get tasks done. So, as soon as I feel a negative emotion or thought creeping up, I take a long deep breath and say the following instead: "It's going to be okay" or "I've got this" or "Everything always works out." By using these positive affirmations, I can shift my mindset and approach tasks with confidence and clarity. This daily habit has allowed me to keep moving with my goals and reduce procrastination.

3. Embrace The Power Of "Yet"

When working on long-term incomplete projects or pursuing desires that seem distant, I like to use the word "yet" to remind myself that anything is possible. Instead of saying "I haven't finished the project" or "I haven't visited Bali". Instead, I say, "I haven't finished the project yet" or "I haven't visited Bali yet." By adding the word "yet" I am acknowledging that these things are still possible and that I am actively working towards them. It also opens doors to possibilities and allows me to focus on what I CAN do versus what I cannot do.

By incorporating these techniques into my daily routine, I can stay focused, motivated, and productive throughout the day. They have helped me get more done and made me more content and fulfilled with my day-to-day life.

In conclusion, words have the power to shape our thoughts, actions, and ultimately our lives. By practicing gratitude, using positive affirmations, and embracing the power of "yet," we can take control of our mindset and approach tasks with confidence and clarity. So next time you feel overwhelmed or stressed, try using positive self-talk to shift your mindset and see how it can impact your productivity and overall well-being.
