Just Starting Out – The UK’s Platform for New Business Owners

Just Starting Out Ltd (JSO), an emerging force in the UK’s start-up ecosystem, is redefining how new professionals and early-stage entrepreneurs cultivate credibility, attract their first customers, and establish sustainable growth.

Glowing map of the UK and Ireland from space, network illuminated with blue and white lights, against a dark Earth backdrop.

Positioned at the intersection of innovation and inclusion, JSO’s mission is to make the formative stages of entrepreneurship more accessible, affordable, and accountable. The platform enables newly qualified professionals to offer their services at introductory rates (or occasionally free of charge) in exchange for invaluable “business-building blocks” such as client testimonials, ratings, and image permissions.

“Our purpose has always been to democratise opportunity,” says Abi Hill, Founder and CEO of Just Starting Out Ltd. “Talent is universal, but opportunity often isn’t. We help bridge that critical gap between potential and proof  empowering people to showcase their abilities, build confidence, and develop the foundations of long-term success.”

The impetus behind JSO is grounded in a stark reality: one in five UK start-ups fail within their first year, often not because of a lack of skill or ambition, but due to the absence of early-stage visibility, guidance, effective money management, and community support.

The platform's ecosystem includes

  • A searchable online hub connecting new business owners with customers seeking emerging talent and value-driven services.

  • A peer-to-peer community forum fostering collaboration, shared learning, and resilience among entrepreneurs.

  • Curated resources and strategic partnerships, including exclusive discounts from trusted national partners, all with the aim of making starting out less expensive.

The Just Starting Out platform will shortly be open for early professional registrations ahead of its nationwide launch in 2026. To learn more or join the community, visit here.

A final note from the founder

“Entrepreneurship is as much a psychological journey as it is a commercial one,” Hill added. “We exist to remove the isolation and intimidation from that first year in business, for the cost of less than a latte per fortnight!”
