Executive Contributors at Brainz Magazine are handpicked and invited to contribute because of their knowledge and valuable insight within their area of expertise.

Well in simplest form I’m an Author, Speaker, Thought Leader, and Influencer which is my official title!

I’m an author and writer having published 4 books on mindset and a mindset journal with the most recent book Reframe Your Mindset: Redefine Your Success being nominated for the Business Book Awards.

I specialise in Leadership, Innovation and Mindset which is what I speak about in my keynote talks, and I have been fortunate to talk and facilitate across the world in my career to date.

My day-to-day work is I started a leadership consultancy called Leadership Innovators which specialises in building leadership capability for organisations. My background was mainly in organisational effectiveness and leadership development roles and after 25 years in the corporate world it was time to put my dreams of setting up business in motion.

And I’m actually now recognised through my achievements by Thinkers 360 as Number 1 Thought Leader & Influencer in Health & Wellbeing for 2021 which made me realise the positive influence I had by sharing thought leadership through my work, articles, blogs, my podcast, and books.

My podcast series Reframe Your Mindset for Success I have special guests talking on mindset to help others enhance their mindset to be the best version of themselves and help during these times of uncertainty and change.

So, day to day it is consultancy, writing, designing, sharing ideas, thought leadership, podcasting, facilitation, speaking all in different proportions and some much more than others.

What is your background?

My background from a career’s perspective has been mainly in the financial services working for large banks so Bank of America, Lloyds Banking Group, HBOS, MBNA, Barclaycard, Capital Bank, Bank of Scotland and also in Retail with AO.com. Since I have started consulting and speaking, I have been able to work with lots of organisations across different sectors from IT, Automobile, Retail, Education, Charity and Local Government, with my key subjects being leadership, innovation, and mindset they are easily transferrable across all industries.

What makes you stand out from your competitors?

Well from a consultancy perspective with Leadership Innovators we are actually backed from a technology perspective by some big leadership consultancies and technology providers so we can provide the right solution to help develop leaders. But where Leadership Innovators comes into play is we analyse your organisational conditioning and work with organisations to quickly assess levels of capability.

We then get organisations to take a step back to look at their thinking around leadership for their organisation and one of our niche specialisms is creative leadership model design. When leaders understand what good looks like for leadership within an organisation, we can start to create real behavioural change. We can then provide leadership assessment through a range of tools and also a wide range of leadership solutions.

It is how we partner, our thought leadership and the development of innovative leadership development strategy that really makes us stand out.

And I guess after 30 years research into mindset and what makes people successful, I fully integrate practical concepts into everything I do from keynote talks, executive coaching, and leadership development.

What is currently on your agenda for 2022?

The first is to continue to provide an exceptional service for existing clients and forge new client relationships. Personally, I really want to get back to being on stage with more speaking in person as I miss the buzz of an audience. And I’m also in the process of writing my next book ‘The Mindset of an Organisation: The Future of Leadership.’ So, looking forward to finalising and publishing later in the year. And I have recently signed up to provide leadership, innovation, and mindset content for a number of platforms so looking forward to writing and producing the content this year.

And why do you do what you do?

Well firstly as much as I love what I do which I think is so important my life is about my family and friends, so I’m married with four children so having work life balance is key to my success. Next is that through my work I am able to change lives as I provide a contribution from what I earn to charities and also B1G1 for good causes and to help people worse off across the world. These impacts are so important because we can all change the world in our own way and bring smiles to other people across the globe. And I genuinely want to help people with my content and ideas through my writing, articles, and books especially during these times of pandemic and lock down. One of my missions from a leadership perspective is to create the leaders the world now wants to see.

What advice would you give to people for 2022?

My advice would firstly be to set goals that you are passionate about and create your own future. I have a saying ‘Create Your Future and Step into it!’ And based on the way of the world to also be kind to other people. We have all experienced such a change to our lives, we have had to think more about what we do, work in new and different ways and navigate change so do take the time to be kind to yourself as well as others. And keep smiling.
