This is something my clients tend to struggle with and something we spend time working on together.

When you run an online business and use social media as a marketing platform, you can also become very over consumed with content, other people’s strategies and have lots of voices impacting your everyday experiences.

Overconsumption can then also lead to overwhelm, comparison, self-sabotage, analysis paralysis and prevent you from making progress in an aligned way.

So, in our time together in this article, I am hoping that we can start to get you to truly embody your intuition as a business owner and learn ways that you can embrace this more for purpose and power!

Firstly – why do I believe your intuition is important for you as an online business owner?

For me, there are 3 core areas I support my clients with during our time together.

  • The ability to innovate

  • The ability to execute

  • The ability to audit, learn and grow

These all hugely benefit from being in touch with your intuition and knowing what aligns with you.

Being able to innovate, a lot of the time, comes from an intuitive nudge that something is needed to change, your audience need something from you, or you have this deep down feeling that you are ready for more. To create it, to bring it, to serve it, to promote it. ALL OF IT!!!

That ability to innovate comes from intuition. It comes from a place where you know – right, something is ready to emerge, change or develop here.

This could be enhanced by

  • Client feedback

  • Client results

  • Community engagement or feedback

  • Your own readiness to grow

  • A new idea you have had whilst in the shower

  • Something inside you just feeling ready

Next comes the execution of this. Now, I LOVE strategy, planning and having an action plan but the key reason people execute is because they find meaning it what they are doing. Your intuition is key for this element too! (seeing the pattern?!)

If you are going to execute in your business continually and consistently, it must FEEL right and have personal MEANING for you. If it doesn’t – you will find excuses or lose motivation.

And finally, your ability to audit, learn and grow MUST involve your intuition. You know if something is working or not, you know if someone is aligned to you or not, you know if you are vibing with your content or not. You know. Deep down, you know. Why? Your intuition!

This is an area I encourage in my clients from the get-go of our time together – this is YOUR business, no-one else’ and if you don’t connect with your own business and how you want to do things – you will only be able to sustain so long whilst listening to everyone else around you.

You are probably thinking – yes, this sounds amazing Sam and I get it now but HOW do I start listening, embracing, and honouring my intuition for my own business growth and success?

Well - great question and one I am going to break down and answer for you now.

3 ways you can start to embrace and honour to intuition as an online business owner;

1. Stop and ask yourself this question daily

Am I working in a way that suits me? Am I working at my own optimum performance and effectiveness?

This is your first step and really tuning into yourself and what you need, in order to work best.

For example, if it is 8pm at night and you’re doing work on your laptop on the sofa and you ask this question and you reply NO, I’m tired and I cant concentrate. That is your intuition responding!

If you are in a coffee shop working and ask yourself this question and you reply with, yes, I need to do his more, this creative energy is what I need to be around – that is your intuition talking to you!

This is your step one. The chance to check in with yourself DAILY, but also with the primary focus of identifying your own peak performance too.

ASK – is the way I am working right now, allowing me to create my best?

2. Body scan

It is SO easy to be in our heads. What if this, what if that. I cant do this. I am worried about that. I have seen someone else do it better, maybe I shouldn’t. I just don’t know. I’ve tried and it isn’t working, I don’t get it.

But when do you take time to come back to your body?

When do you take a moment to connect back to you and how you FEEL?

Commit to checking in with yourself just once a day, checking in on your physical body, the vessel that houses all of your magic.

You simply stop, take a few deep breaths, close your eyes, and start at the top of your head.

Slowly breathing as you trace your body in your mind to see how it feels, tightness, soreness, aches, itches, sensations and connect with them.

THIS will allow your intuition to have space to feel nurtured. You’ll notice things about your body that you very quickly dismiss when the everyday life and business jobs take over – so spending 2-5 minutes a day with yourself will also help you to start to TRUST yourself again and TRUST what your body might be telling you.

You may even start to acknowledge where your intuition lives for you, your heart, your gut, your breath. This is your very own north star, so embrace it as often as you can. Take care of YOU.

3. Reflect, journal, and evaluate

At the end of each day, simply take some time to think about what felt good, what worked, what felt harder than you wanted, what did you enjoy, what did you find cringy?

And let those messages speak to you.

What I will say, is that not everything right feels easy instantly, but this does give you the chance to really check in with how you are working, living, and building your business.

If most of your day felt forced, heavy, or inauthentic – look into that.

If most of your day felt light, ease, aligned, enjoyable – why is that? How can you maintain and protect that?

This simple check-in will allow you to build a business that is focused on YOU at the forefront and after all, you are the biggest asset your business will ever have!

After these active tasks, here are some questions you can use to help guide your intuition even further.

  1. What would my future self-want most?

  2. If I don’t / do, do this – how will I feel?

  3. What would feel right for me in this moment?

  4. What am I holding myself back from?

  5. Is this fear or logic talking?

  6. What is this feeling? How can it help or hinder me right now?

  7. What do you want me to do?

  8. If I listen to you, what would I hear?

Just allow these open questions to guide you back to yourself.

Remember, that YOU are the biggest asset your business will ever have and your business will benefit most from you being at your best, for your best and with your best.
