Anna Semchenko, Licensed Nurse and Foot Health Expert

Introduce yourself! Please tell us about yourself and your life, so we can get to know you better.

My name is Anna Semchenko, and I’m a registered nurse based in the U.S., originally from Eastern Europe. I specialize in foot care, a field that’s often overlooked but incredibly important. I work with patients of all ages, helping them not only treat chronic conditions but also understand how the feet reflect and affect overall health. Outside of work, I’m a mom to a toddler, a lover of clean, non-toxic living, and someone who truly enjoys spending time in the kitchen making nourishing meals. My life is a blend of clinical science, holistic wellness, and a lot of real-life multitasking.

What inspired you to focus specifically on foot health within the broader field of holistic wellness?

Honestly, it was the intersection of two things: my clinical observations and my personal values. In nursing, I saw firsthand how foot issues were often treated reactively, people only seek help when there’s already pain or damage. But I also saw how much could be prevented with the right daily care, proper shoes, and small lifestyle changes. I became fascinated with how much foot health reflects systemic health. For me, it was the perfect space to combine clinical skills, education, and holistic prevention.

What do you think is the most common misconception people have about foot care?

That it’s only for the elderly or for people with diabetes, in reality, everyone needs foot care, especially younger, active people and even children. Another big misconception is that foot issues are “normal” if you’re busy, aging, or on your feet a lot. But pain isn’t normal, it’s a signal. I try to help people catch those signals early.

Can you share a daily ritual or habit that you recommend for better foot health and overall wellness?

Absolutely and while most people expect me to say something about lotions or massages, I’ll say this: pay attention to your shoes every single day. Foot health starts with what you wear on your feet, not just occasionally, but consistently. Most people don’t realize how much poor footwear contributes to pain, fatigue, and even posture issues. I always recommend taking a moment each morning to check: Are your shoes actually supporting your foot’s natural shape? Is there enough space for your toes to move freely? Are you rotating your footwear, or wearing the same tight pair every day? This kind of awareness may seem small, but over time, it makes a profound difference. Good shoes aren’t just a comfort, they’re preventive healthcare.

Tell us about your greatest career achievement so far.

Building a trusted voice in the public space around preventive foot care has been the most meaningful to me. Through social media, I’ve created educational content viewed by millions, with followers often saying, “I had no idea this was even a thing.” I think making medical knowledge accessible and empowering people to care for themselves is one of the most impactful things a nurse can do.

Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

The real turning point was when I realized I didn’t have to choose between being a nurse, a creator, or a businesswoman; I could be all three. That’s when I started creating foot-focused content and developing my own product line as a natural extension of my clinical practice. I’m still working on it behind the scenes, and while it’s in the early stages, it’s deeply rooted in everything I’ve learned about skin health, formulation, and real patient needs.

What makes your perspective on healthcare and wellness unique compared to traditional approaches?

I respect clinical medicine deeply, as it saved lives I witnessed. But I also believe prevention should be more than just an afterthought. My approach blends nursing science with a holistic mindset: I look at the shoes you wear, the food you eat, your daily stress, and how you take care of yourself at home. In my world, there’s no “either/or” between modern medicine and natural care; we need both.

As a nurse and educator on social media, how do you see your role in shaping public awareness around preventive care?

Social media gives me a way to reach people before they become patients. I don’t give medical advice online, of course, but I educate and education is power. One of the most rewarding moments is when someone tells me they saw my video and finally got help for something they’d been ignoring. I see my role as translating complex health topics into something simple, engaging, and immediately useful.
