On December 25, while family and friends celebrated Christmas, I knew something was terribly wrong. I had double pneumonia, and my wife and I went to the doctor, only to hear unbelievable words. “You’re going down a dark path really fast,” the doctor said. My oxygen levels were very low. Every second felt like a struggle until I gradually saw some small wins. One of the first was receiving divine inspiration to enroll in coaching. Weeks later, I was able to climb the stairs in our three-story townhouse without straining.

Once it became apparent that I would survive, I needed a plan to move forward. Facing more uncertainty than ever before, I needed a daily routine. While my personal world and the world around me were crazy, I grounded myself with these five daily steps.

  1. Eliminate the Negatives. Especially in the beginning stages of my recovery, I was fragile. I couldn’t handle anything that didn’t move me forward. I went so far as to restrict contact with one of my friends for a time because of his toxic negativity.

  2. Stay Present. When you have a critical goal, it’s amazing how sharp your focus is. Mine was to live.

  3. Keep it Light. Life’s serious as it is. In the midst of treatments, I sought fun and saw results.

  4. Take your Vitamins. I kept a steady supply of vitamins nearby so that my body would have constant nutrients to aid in the regeneration process.

  5. Building Mindsets Builds Business. Having almost died from Covid and double pneumonia, keeping my mindset on living and building my business while lying on my back was a miracle in itself. More and more, I recall what my business coach always says: “Done beats perfect. "

Above all, don’t quit on yourself regardless of your circumstances. Those five steps have taken me from no way to absolutely. How about you? What gets you from red light to a green?
