Las Vegas, Nevada, September 12, 2026. Phillip B. Shoemaker, the founding director of App Store Review at Apple, will publish Unbreakable: Secure Your Digital Life in a World Built to Breach You on October 26, 2026, with John Wiley & Sons.

Most cybersecurity books are written for the people who already work in security. Unbreakable is written for everyone else: the parent setting up a first phone, the small business owner taking payments, the retiree getting a text that looks a little too real. Shoemaker argues that criminals don't select targets based on who understands the threat. They select based on who is easy to reach.

The book explains how today's scams, account takeovers, deepfakes, and identity attacks actually work, then gives readers an ordered system for shutting off the access those attacks depend on. It closes with a 30-day program that walks readers through securing their identity, money, accounts, reputation, and family one step at a time.

Shoemaker built Apple's App Store Review team, its fraud detection systems, and the review processes that screened millions of submissions, working under Steve Jobs and Tim Cook. He has also faced multiple attacks. A SIM-swap attack and a sustained impersonation campaign against his own identity run through the book as a narrative thread.

"I spent years watching fraud from the inside, and then I got hit by it anyway," Shoemaker said. "The advice people get is either too vague to act on or written for engineers. I wanted a book that tells you exactly what to do, in what order, and why it works. Be intentional, not paranoid."

Shoemaker founded PersonaShield.com, a likeness authentication and monitoring service, and co-founded identity.org. He also founded NobodyReadsThat.com, which analyzes terms of service agreements, and The Unbreakable Group, a cybersecurity consulting practice serving executives and high-exposure families. He lives in Las Vegas.

Unbreakable: Secure Your Digital Life in a World Built to Breach You (ISBN 9781394445547) is available for pre-order now from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and independent booksellers.
