How to get your power back! Oftentimes, as entrepreneurs and business leaders, we forget one key principle: there is power in what we do. No matter if you offer financial advice, have resources to implement a financial plan like myself, or you're simply an entrepreneur beginning your journey to success and don't know how to get there, our team has the tools and the resources to make sure that you are successful. I want to share some key points with you that I've learned on my journey to success.

A diverse group of joyful women are gathered together, smiling and supporting one another in a bright, modern setting.

  1. What is your financial plan, or do you even have one?

  2. Do you have a will and a trust set up already with your financial advisor?

  3. Do you not leverage other people's money for you in order for you to make money?

These three key factors are questions I ask my potential clients as they invest in their future and learn how to build wealth. The one thing that I don't do is make any claims that you will be rich within a day, but what I do instill is consistency with your plan to achieve success, financially, that is.

I have a rule that I live by, and it is simply this: “Keep your compass in your pocket and always know the direction that you want to go, and do not divert from that goal.”

Live your life as if tomorrow is not promised, and never change who you are for anything or anyone. The greatness that is in you will always be your superpower!

I am standing up to a global epidemic

Life is an interesting journey, to say the least, when it comes to the position of being a woman globally. We, as women, face many obstacles to our purpose. We have so many hats that we wear that sometimes we wear far too many.

On my journey to becoming a businesswoman, I discovered that I am a trailblazer and a midwife. I am truly compassionate about seeing the lives of women changed for the better, whether they are young or older. As I look over my own life, I recognize that there were changes I needed to make in order to move forward in my mission to empower women.

In order for women to be empowered, there are a few things I discovered are crucial for a prosperous life:

  • Financial freedom and security: Many women don’t have a blueprint for success when it comes to building a life of financial freedom.

  • Healthy relationships: If you are a woman in a toxic relationship, you cannot move forward in your business.

  • The right mindset: If your mind is feeding negativity, you need to find positive quotes.

  • Perseverance: Never stop trying to achieve your dreams.

  • Good health: If women are to be powerful in this life, they must take care of their bodies daily.

  • The mindset of a winner: If you see yourself as a winner, you will never fail, even when defeat is all around you.

  • Determination: Every woman must have a goal to achieve, especially when they find themselves feeling defeated.

  • Clarity of purpose: Everything that we do as women must have clarity in order for our lives to look and feel successful.

All of the above eight components were essential for me to move in the direction of global thinking. No one told me how important it was to have all eight of these strategies until later in my life.

When I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in 2014, my life changed drastically. I had no plan and no idea how I was going to take care of myself. My corporate job, which had moved me to Atlanta, laid me off when they discovered that I was sick. This unforeseen event in my life forced me to make real changes if I was going to survive.

Purpose

When I look back over my life before the cancer, I recognize that my life had purpose. That purpose sort of diminished when I got the diagnosis. However, my desire to empower women globally increased all the more.

We, as women, must recognize that purpose, coupled with imagination, can go a long way. Purpose is the reason for which something is done or for which something exists, and imagination is the place where vision is born. If you can see your vision manifest, you can move forward toward your dream life.

Women across the globe wake up every day striving for a better life, but many do not obtain it because their core values are not a priority. Women must renew their minds, refresh their thinking, and relaunch as they reflect on where they desire to go, not where they have been.

Many women have dealt with missed opportunities and unfulfilled goals that may have left them feeling defeated or even left behind. I can raise my hand on most of what I just said because it happened to me on several occasions during the course of my life as a coach, mentor, pastor, and leadership trainer.

What I decided to do was take a deep breath and dust myself off, because I am not defeated. Every woman reading this article must begin to proclaim out loud that they are in the middle of the greatest season of their lives, despite what is happening in our world.

The power is your responsibility, because no order that has been written in the name of the King and sealed with the King’s signet ring can be overturned. So, more than a conqueror. I can hear a silent voice in you that is saying, It is time for you as a woman to write a new order for yourself called financial health, wealth, and freedom.

I want you to take full authority over your life. Today. No more procrastination. No more delays. No more excuses, only action. Women globally have to learn how to reverse the negative thoughts in their minds and what others may have said to them. Forget about your failures and press toward your success. Take dominion over your life and write a new order of health, wealth, and good success for your future and the future of the generations connected to you.

My plea to women across the globe is this: What does your new vision statement say? Have you even taken the time to write one? Your future is waiting for you to command it. We, as women, must always be willing to find ways to reinvent ourselves.

I was a former Miss Black Teenage runner-up, producer of my own TV show Roxanne Speaks, until cancer disrupted my life and my ministry. During that unforeseeable time in my life, I had to take an assessment of where I wanted to go next. I had no real plan, except that my vision was ever before me. I began to gain a deeper understanding of why believing in yourself is so important.

Let us walk in integrity

As a leader, I have learned that my failures taught me how to be resilient.

As a leader, I have learned that how I think determines what I can accomplish in my life.

As leaders, we must always be willing to show the way. When we lead from the front, unafraid and not intimidated by our peers, we can make a huge impact.

Identity

I read an excerpt from Michelle Obama (former First Lady, wife of former President Barack Obama) in which she talked about how she had to adapt to being a wife, and the wife of a President of the United States of America. Although they were two very different people, there was an adaptation that had to take place in their marriage. Michelle Obama said that “she wanted everything.” She had been raised to be confident and see no limits, and to go after and get whatever it was she wanted.

She said that she wanted to live with the hat-tossing, independent career-woman zest of Mary Tyler Moore and, at the same time, gravitate toward the stabilizing, self-sacrificing, seemingly bland normalcy of being a wife and mother. She would often ask herself, Can I have everything I want?

In my response to my own self, I was, and still am, a lot like her. And so are many of you who are reading this article.

We might not have it all figured out just yet, just like our former First Lady, but we can continually strive for it all, one day at a time. When we take dominion over our lives, we can begin to see the big picture. It is like we have a vision board in front of us that can remind us daily of what we can become.

Possessing the power

Now, because I am a Women’s Leadership Coach and Transformational Speaker, I have always been fascinated by powerful women and their journey to success. The one thing that I see in famous and influential women is that they refuse to die in their wilderness. There are promises for each and every one of us.

Take the necessary time to reflect on where you have been and where you want to go. Your time is now!

You have the power to get and create wealth.

Utilize the principles that I have given you in this article and take the first step toward your financial freedom and wealth.
