What first drew you to the world of pharmacy?

I've always had a deep passion for healthcare and a strong desire to help people live healthier, more fulfilling lives. What initially drew me to pharmacy was the unique combination it offered: a blend of scientific knowledge, critical problem-solving, and meaningful patient interaction. I was fascinated by the idea that pharmacists could not only provide essential medications but also act as trusted healthcare advisors, empowering patients to take control of their health journeys.

As I gained more experience, I realized that pharmacy goes beyond simply dispensing prescriptions and embodies building long-term relationships with patients, understanding their individual needs, and finding innovative ways to improve healthcare access and outcomes. I was particularly inspired by the opportunity to educate patients, guiding them through complex health information in a way that is compassionate and easy to understand. That sense of purpose, making a real difference every day, is what continues to fuel my passion.

What makes Texas Star Pharmacy stand out from the competition?

At Texas Star Pharmacy, what truly sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to personalized patient care. We believe that pharmacy is not just about filling prescriptions but about forming lasting relationships built on trust, compassion, and respect. Every patient who walks through our doors is treated like family. We take the time to listen carefully, understand their unique health needs, and provide thorough education to help them make informed decisions.

Unlike large chain pharmacies, we focus on delivering a customized experience, whether that means offering tailored medication solutions, individualized counseling, or leveraging technology to streamline and simplify their healthcare journey. Innovation is at the core of everything we do. We are constantly seeking new ways to enhance our services and improve patient outcomes. It’s this blend of genuine personal care and forward-thinking leadership that truly makes Texas Star Pharmacy a trusted healthcare partner in our community.

What does a typical day look like for you, as the COO and owner of Texas Star Pharmacy?

As the owner and COO of Texas Star Pharmacy, my day is a mix of leadership, operations, and patient care. I start by checking in with my team to ensure everything is running smoothly, from inventory management to patient consultations. A big part of my role involves overseeing workflow efficiency, staying ahead of industry changes, and finding ways to improve our services.

I also spend time mentoring our staff, meeting with healthcare partners, and exploring innovations that can enhance patient care. Of course, I still love engaging with patients whenever I can because, at the end of the day, they’re the heart of what we do. No two days are the same, but that’s what makes this role so rewarding!

Can you talk about a challenge you faced and how you overcame it?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced has been navigating the constant changes in healthcare regulations and insurance policies. It can sometimes feel overwhelming to keep up, especially when those changes impact both patient care and business operations. But instead of letting it slow us down, we chose to embrace change and view it as an opportunity for growth. We focused on staying ahead of industry shifts by diversifying our services, streamlining our internal processes, and investing in continuous education for our team.

We made it a priority to be proactive rather than reactive, always looking for ways to adapt quickly and effectively. Whether that meant updating our technology, expanding our clinical services, or finding new ways to advocate for our patients, we stayed focused on our mission. Through it all, I’ve learned that flexibility, resilience, and a forward-thinking mindset are absolutely essential to thriving in today’s healthcare environment.

What values guide your work at Texas Star Pharmacy?

First and foremost, compassion is at the heart of everything we do at Texas Star Pharmacy. We’re in this business to help people, and that commitment to caring for others has to come before anything else. Every decision we make is rooted in the genuine desire to improve our patients’ lives and health outcomes.

Integrity is just as important. We believe in being honest, transparent, and consistently doing what’s right for our patients, even when it’s not the easiest path. Trust is the foundation of any strong patient relationship, and we work hard to earn and keep that trust every day. Finally, innovation plays a big role in guiding our work. Healthcare is constantly changing, and we believe that, in order to deliver the best possible care, we must be willing to adapt, grow, and embrace new solutions. These values shape every interaction and every service we provide.

What are some of your proudest accomplishments with Texas Star Pharmacy?

Growing our services to better support our community has been one of my proudest accomplishments with Texas Star Pharmacy. Over the years, we’ve expanded medication management programs, enhanced our patient education efforts, and built strong mentoring opportunities for future pharmacists.

Every new initiative feels like a meaningful step forward, both for our patients and for the broader healthcare community we’re proud to serve. But honestly, the moments that stick with me the most aren’t just about numbers or programs—they’re the personal ones. When a patient takes the time to tell us that we’ve made a real difference in their life, that’s when I feel the true impact of our work. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that what we do every single day matters, not just on a professional level, but on a deeply human one. Those connections are what make all the hard work truly worth it.

What key lessons have you learned about thriving in the healthcare industry?

Flexibility is essential in the healthcare industry. Things are always changing, and being able to adapt quickly is key. But it is just as important to keep people at the center of everything you do. When you lead with compassion and focus on truly helping patients, trust naturally follows, and that’s where real, lasting success begins.

Another major lesson is the value of lifelong learning. Whether it’s clinical updates, business strategies, or emerging tools, staying curious and open to growth ensures you’re always moving forward and ready to meet new challenges with confidence.
