Dedicated Homepage For Podcasts Mooted For YouTube

In an exclusive, Podnews revealed it had had eyes on an 84-page presentation “produced by YouTube, intended for podcast publishers”.

Youtube app

A dedicated podcast page (YouTube.com/podcasts, which doesn’t work as yet); audio ads and a revenue share model with podcast publishers were detailed. The article also states: “YouTube will also supply analytics, particularly “new metrics for audio-first creators”.”

TechCrunch added that the move would make logical sense and pit YouTube against Spotify and its Podcast offerings. In a news report on 30th March, it wrote: “Over the years, YouTube has highlighted the service’s larger content categories by giving them their own homepages, as it did with YouTube Gaming back in 2015 and with YouTube Fashion (now Fashion & Beauty) in 2019. Plus, YouTube content helps to power Google’s music streaming service, YouTube Music, which competes with other services like Spotify, where podcasts are a competitive advantage.”

There is no comment from YouTube as yet.
