Who is Chelsee Elizabeth Buffin?

I’ve always believed that resilience, creativity, and structure are the keys to growth, in both business and life, and that belief has shaped who I am today. I am an entrepreneur, business strategist, and founder of The Business Annexe. At home, I’m an independent mother of two, and beyond business I love fitness, creativity, and finding new ways to challenge myself.

In business, I thrive on creating structure, building strategy, and empowering people to achieve more than they think possible. Something people often find surprising about me is that I built The Business Annexe independently, from funding to course design, website development and accreditation, while managing family life and multiple roles. That resilience and determination has shaped both me and the company’s culture.

What inspired you to establish The Business Annexe, and how has your mission evolved since its inception?

The inspiration for this journey came directly from my own career experience. For more than a decade, I worked in Sales Management and Senior Account Management roles, where I was responsible for delivering results against multi-million-pound portfolios. These roles demanded resilience, strategy, and the ability to consistently meet ambitious targets in highly competitive industries.

During this time, I developed a deep understanding of client relationships, business growth, and performance management. Leading teams and managing complex accounts taught me the importance of clear communication, structured processes, and data-driven decision-making. These lessons have shaped not only my professional skills but also the way I approach problem-solving and business development today.

This career background is what drives my passion for helping others build skills and achieve success. By combining real-world experience with structured learning, I aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice. You can learn more about my work here. My goal is to share insights that are both practical and actionable, giving learners the tools they need to thrive in their own business and career journeys.

With the increasing demand for online professional development, how does The Business Annexe differentiate itself in a competitive market?

The Business Annexe stands out because of our CPD-accredited, industry-recognised approach and the fact that every course is designed for immediate workplace application. We combine theory with practical tasks, reflective exercises, and real-world case studies so that learners can translate knowledge into measurable performance. Our workforce training is also expert-led, drawing on professionals with decades of success across industries, meaning businesses don’t just receive generic training, but strategies proven at a high level.

Since its launch, The Business Annexe has grown beyond offering individual courses into a comprehensive business skills academy. Our mission now extends to providing workforce development programmes, expert-led seminars, and career coaching, ensuring that both individuals and organisations have access to the tools, strategies, and confidence required to succeed in an evolving business landscape.

How do you ensure that your courses remain relevant and aligned with the latest industry trends and business needs?

Relevance is at the heart of everything we do. We monitor emerging trends, employer demands, and regulatory requirements to ensure our content evolves with the market. Each course is regularly reviewed and updated, and we consult with industry professionals to capture insights from the front line. Additionally, we embed tools like trend analysis frameworks into our teaching, so learners themselves become skilled at recognising what’s changing and how to adapt. Being CPD accredited further confirms that our training meets recognised standards and stays fully aligned with professional and regulatory expectations.

What qualities do you prioritise when selecting trainers and course developers to maintain the quality of your programs?

We look for trainers with real-world experience, proven results, and a passion for teaching. Academic knowledge is important, but in business development, leadership, or customer service, practical experience is invaluable. Our trainers are not only subject-matter experts but also mentors who can connect theory with actionable strategies. See here.

Professionalism, credibility, and the ability to inspire confidence in learners are non-negotiable.

Looking ahead, what are your key goals for The Business Annexe in the next 3–5 years, and how do you plan to achieve them?

Our goals are to:

  1. Expand our course portfolio to cover more specialist areas of business.

  2. Grow our corporate partnerships by providing scalable workforce training packages.

  3. Build a strong reputation as a trusted international skills academy.

We will achieve this by continuing to invest in accreditation, recruiting industry-leading trainers, and developing innovative resources that respond to the evolving needs of businesses and professionals. In doing so, we aim to set a benchmark for excellence in professional development.
