Adityan Prasannan, Healthcare Entrepreneur & Chairman at Adi Care Corporation

Introduce yourself! Please tell us about you and your life, so we can get to know you better.

I’m Adityan Prasannan, Chairman of Adi Care Group, a senior care company transforming the way Canada approaches retirement living. Born and raised in Kerala, India, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (B.A.M.S.) and a Master’s in Healthcare Management from the UK. I moved to Canada just 2.5 years ago with no business background here, starting my journey as a Personal Support Worker. Today, I lead a growing portfolio by raising 5 million dollars that includes retirement residences, a fine dining restaurant, a media production company, real estate holdings, and innovative senior housing concepts. Outside work, I’m passionate about community building, public speaking, and exploring new cultures. I thrive on creating opportunities that combine compassion with innovation.

What inspired you to start Adi Care Group and focus on redefining senior living in Canada?

When I arrived in Canada, I quickly noticed a gap in affordable yet dignified senior living options. Many seniors with modest pensions were struggling to find quality care that felt like home. Drawing from my medical background and my values of compassion, I saw an opportunity to create residences where affordability, dignity, and community could coexist. That vision became Adi Care Group’s mission to offer the “Luxury of Compassion” and set a new standard for senior living.

How do you incorporate Ayurvedic principles into your healthcare management approach at Adi Care Group?

Ayurveda is built on the balance of mind, body, and spirit a philosophy that shapes our approach. While we operate in a modern Canadian healthcare framework, we integrate holistic elements such as personalized wellness programs, mindful nutrition, and stress-reducing activities. This combination helps residents not only live longer but live happier, healthier lives. It’s about treating people, not just conditions.

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced while raising over $5 million in funding, and how did you overcome them?

The greatest hurdle was convincing investors that a relatively new immigrant without a Canadian business track record could execute large-scale projects successfully. I overcame this by building trust presenting solid business plans, demonstrating early operational successes, and showcasing my commitment through personal investment. Persistence, transparency, and a clear vision turned initial skepticism into strong partnerships.

Can you tell us more about the innovative multiplex project and how it enhances the senior living experience?

Our multiplex project is more than a building it’s a community hub. It combines residential units, entertainment spaces, and amenities tailored for seniors, encouraging social interaction and active lifestyles. By integrating senior living into vibrant, multi-use environments, we break the isolation that often comes with aging and create spaces where residents remain engaged and connected.

How has your background in medical research and public speaking contributed to your leadership in the healthcare industry?

Having authored over 35 scientific papers and presented internationally, I learned to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively. Research taught me evidence-based decision-making, while public speaking honed my ability to inspire teams, stakeholders, and communities. Together, these skills have been instrumental in leading a diverse, multidisciplinary organization.

As a recipient of multiple prestigious awards, what advice do you have for aspiring healthcare entrepreneurs looking to make a social impact?

Impact begins with empathy. Truly understand the community you serve, and design solutions for their real needs not just market trends. Be relentless in execution, but flexible in approach. Build relationships, not transactions. Recognition will follow naturally when your work consistently delivers value and transforms lives.

Tell us about your greatest career achievement so far.

While winning awards like Canada’s Business Elite 40 Under 40 and the Youth Icon Award from the House of Commons is gratifying, my proudest achievement is creating affordable, high-quality senior living spaces that give dignity back to residents. Seeing a senior’s smile because they feel at home that’s the ultimate measure of success.

If you could change one thing about your industry, what would it be and why?

I would eliminate the stigma that affordable senior housing equals lower quality. Quality of care should never be dictated by someone’s bank balance. Every senior deserves comfort, respect, and joy in their later years, and the industry needs to reframe affordability as an opportunity for innovation, not compromise.

Tell us about a pivotal moment in your life that brought you to where you are today.

The turning point was arriving in Canada with nothing but my medical degree, determination, and a dream. Working as a PSW gave me a ground-level view of the challenges seniors face daily. That experience, though humble, ignited a vision that grew into Adi Care Group. It taught me that no starting point is too small if your ambition is backed by hard work and purpose.
