Have you wondered if your daily lifestyle habits correlate with your skin? Do they benefit or affect your skin health? Recent studies have encountered that daily lifestyle habits such as exercise, nutrition, sun exposure, and many more can influence skin wellness. In this article, you will know how your daily habits contribute not only to skin wellness but your general health as well.

Internal and external factors

Our daily habits define our lifestyle in many ways of our life. Our skin, the body’s largest organ, is influenced by these lifestyle habits as well. Internal and external factors that contribute. Internal factors influence our skin as we age, our skin’s cellular process decreases, promoting a lack of elasticity, collagen production, and low blood flow in the skin. Hormones are also, mainly released in the hypothalamus, a part of the brain that plays an internal role in skin function and wellness. They play a fundamental role in skin function, more in women’s processes such as menopause and pregnancy. However, recent studies suggest that our daily lifestyle habits are also correlated with skin wellness.

Daily habits correlate with skin wellness

1. Exercise

Exercise is key for health and skin wellness. When you exercise you not only release toxins but decrease your cortisol levels (cortisol is known as the stress hormone because it regulates your fight-or-flight response during situations.) Studies suggest that exercise is essential for optimum body and skin function. Increasing your cutaneous blood flow, and improving skin structure are related changes, that promote mitochondrial biosynthesis and normal function. Studies also have demonstrated that when older adults exercise at least twice a week the stratum corneum decreases its thickness, leading to a better collagen synthesis and skin appearance.

2. Nutrition

Such is said that a high consumption of sugars, a high-fat diet, and processed foods should be regulated if you have a medical condition such as diabetes and hypertension. But all these eating habits are also correlated with skin wellness. High-fat diets and high intake of sugars and alcohol can increase inflammatory responses and alter protein synthesis causing changes such as acceleration of skin aging, inflammation, and exacerbation in existing concerns. So great eating habits not only contribute to your general health or existing conditions but also to the health of your skin.

3. Stress

Stress is one of the most studied factors that are correlated with many human situations and well-being. But did you know that studies have also demonstrated a correlation with the skin? Maintaining a balance in stress decreases your levels of cortisol. Reducing the potential risk of acne breakouts, picking your skin, maintaining the skin barrier function, and many other benefits that can be triggered by stress.

4. Consistency

As mentioned previously, consistency is key. Not only in skin wellness but in your daily life too. Consistency is what stays when your motivation is gone. Consistency with your professional skin treatments and your home skin regimen is going to make your skin glow healthily. Improving fine lines, acne, wrinkles, pigmentation, all your skin concerns and wellness.

5. Sun exposure

Ultraviolet radiation and prolonged sun exposure are one of the main causes of premature skin aging and skin cancer. UVA and UVB rays can be absorbed by the skin creating not only a sunburn but also cause oxidative stress, and damage to the DNA. Contributing also to a lack of skin hydration, fine lines, and even pigmentation. But, having this in count and protecting every day with sunscreen, re-applicating, wearing glasses, and having that extra protection when going to the beach or more exposed to sunlight is going to be a lifestyle habit worth it.

6. Sleep

Sleep is key for human essential productivity and function. Lack of sleep not only makes you feel overwhelmed throughout the day, but it also interferes with your productivity.

During sleep, our body regulates many essential functions and one of them is maintaining your skin wellness as well. Having good sleep will make you not only feel full energy but also will make your skin look rejuvenated. Decreasing the potential of developing fine lines, dark circles, and bags in the eyes. A good sleep habit makes your skin look refreshed.

7. Use the correct skincare based on your necessities

Only a professional can recommend the best skincare products and treatments for the specific necessity of your skin. As you may know, using the same routine another person is

using will not necessarily target your skin necessity as well.
