There is no such thing as overnight success and there’s no special formula for instant success either. Building and growing a business takes time, a lot of patience, commitment and determination.

However, there’re activities that can boost your business growth and accelerate your success. Consistency is the key here so it’s important to do the following 5 things regularly:

1. Connect with other people

Many business owners think that once their business is up and running, the clients will come automatically. This is a wrong assumption. Building a customer base takes time and if you’re new on the market, no one knows about you and what you offer.

It’s essential to connect with other people regularly, even if it’s only 15 minutes a day. You can expand your network by engaging with potential clients on social media, connecting with other organizations and businesses and going to networking events.

No matter what you choose to do to connect with others, make sure that you have a system in place that also includes a follow-up.

2. Engage with your audience

Keeping your relationships warm with your existing clients and potential customers is invaluable. An engaged audience is far more inclined to buy from you than an audience that is disengaged.

When it comes to selling, it isn’t about offering your products and services to people when you meet them first. It’s about raising awareness, creating visibility and serving your potential clients in the best possible way. It’s about providing value and showing them that you care.

Engaging with your audience can be done through many different ways. You can engage with people through comments, posts and private messages on social media, or use email marketing and promotional events to build stronger relationships with your audience. As long as you provide value, people will appreciate your efforts.

3. Build a referral list

Referral systems (also known as referral marketing, affiliate marketing and word of mouth marketing) are great as they encourage existing customers to recommend a product or service to their friends, family, colleagues and other people they know. It's free marketing for your business.

People who you were recommended to are warm leads. They've already heard about you, your business and the results that you provide. They usually have fewer objections and in most cases they're ready to buy straight away.

In exchange for referrals, you can provide an incentive to your existing clients so that they get something out of being your brand ambassador. It could be a gift, monetary compensation or anything else that you'd like to offer.

4. Focus on your customer experience

If you want to grow your business, focusing on superior customer experience is a must.

When you exceed customers' expectations, they’re likely to tell their friends, family and people they know about your business.

Even when someone had a poor experience with your product or service, you can make it right by providing a great customer service. It’ll allow you to create a reputation of a company that cares for their clients and invests into their customer service department.

5. Invest in yourself and your business

Starting my own business was the best decision I’ve ever made. Investing in it, was the next best decision.

Having the right support when growing your business is invaluable. Trying to do something alone isn't easy but with the right help you will move towards achieving your goals much faster and more efficiently. Ask anyone who is running a successful business and they will tell you about the people that helped them to get to where they wanted to be.

Hiring a mentor or coach is the greatest investment that you can have not just in your business but also yourself. Mentors and coaches can help you at any stage of your entrepreneurial journey, whether you’re just thinking of starting a business or need help with building or growing it.
