Hijama (Cupping Therapy) Practitioner and Educator

Suleyman Gok began his professional career in 2008; however, prior to this transition, he worked between 1995 and 2007 as an engineer and interior designer. Following the United States mortgage crisis of 2006, he experienced substantial personal and financial loss, including the loss of his employment and primary assets. He subsequently returned to Türkiye, his country of origin.

During this period, he experienced psychological strain accompanied by recurring mild headaches, which led him to undertake independent health research. Through this process, he was introduced to cupping therapy, also known as Hijama. After experiencing significant benefit from his initial treatment, he decided to formally study and pursue this discipline, initially for the wellbeing of his family.

At that time, Hijama was restricted or prohibited in Türkiye and several other countries due to its association with traditional and Islamic medical practices. Despite these limitations, within two years he established a successful clinical practice. He later began traveling throughout Germany, the Netherlands, and other European countries, providing treatment to a diverse clientele that included senior professionals, business leaders, and public figures.

In 2010, he established a Hijama association and received advanced personal training from Dr. Mehmet Kocabas and Dr. Tamer Shaban, further strengthening his clinical and academic foundation.

In 2013, he founded the Hijama Institute & Traditional Medicine Academy. The establishment of the Institute was motivated by widespread skepticism toward Hijama at the time and his commitment to promoting structured education, professional standards, and academic research in cupping therapy.

In 2016, he earned the title of Doctor of Naturopathy and completed extensive training in multiple traditional medicine disciplines, including but not limited to manual therapy, reflexology, iridology, disease assessment, herbal therapy, and other holistic treatment modalities, thereby expanding his integrative healthcare expertise.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he transitioned from international travel to online education, significantly expanding access to Hijama training. This shift resulted in the highest number of students in his career and further extended his global educational reach.

As of 2025, Suleyman Gok has trained more than 8,000 Hijama practitioners and approximately 90 certified Hijama trainers worldwide.

In his current clinical practice, he provides treatments internationally and travels to locations where groups of ten or more patients are organized for scheduled sessions.

He is married and has one stepdaughter.
