Peter Adam Boeckel

Designer, Futurist, Educator, & Entrepreneur

Peter Boeckel is a designer, futurist, educator, and entrepreneur with 16+ years developing hardware products across Asia and the U.S., spanning global organizations, startups, and scale-ups. His work sits where design meets emerging technology and human behavior–building and leading teams that turn complexity into products, systems, and services people can trust. His experience spans consumer electronics, furniture, musical instruments, connected fitness, and surgical robotics.

As an educator, Peter teaches design at IITs and universities in India. He focuses on the future of design education and what it must become in the age of hyperautomation: less training for outputs, more formation of judgment. He writes about learning models that help the next generation build responsibly, make better decisions under uncertainty, and contribute to more stable, forward-thinking societies.

Peter advises and consults with universities to develop or reposition design programs for the future–aligning curriculum, culture, and industry relevance. In parallel, he advises hardware startups across medical devices, robotics, and multimodal product experiences, and works with organizations to build or reform design and innovation capabilities–from leadership and team structure to process, standards, and quality.

He has held roles across Philips Design, Steelcase, BandLab, Peloton, and Intuitive Surgical. With 15+ design awards and multiple launched products, Peter coaches young designers and hosts Design Office Hours, a podcast exploring creative leadership, career growth, and the realities of building products and teams.
