Paul Chenard
Inspirational Artist
Paul Chenard is an artist, writer and designer. Canadian self-taught artist Paul Chenard has a passion for creating the art that tells the story of motor sports history. Not limiting himself to any one medium, he creates his art using pencil, colour pencils, markers, hand-cut aluminum, pen & ink, hand cut-out bits of coloured paper, scratchboard, acrylic on canvas, laser-cut stainless-steel and even house paint. His art commissions have included a variety of motorized subjects.
Through his art exploration, Paul has learned many life lessons and an approach to art that can be transposed to life. He has learned that expectations in art as in life cannot be met. This has led to Paul’s ability to create art at the same time as interacting with the crowds, which is a huge asset. He has given talks to artist groups on varying subjects. He has been hired to be the roving artist at events such as the Pinehurst Concours d’Élégance, the Classic Car Club of America Annual CARavan Tour, the Lime Rock Historic Festival and the Greenwich Concours d’Élégance.
Previously, Paul attended events such the Goodwood Revival, Silverstone Classic, the Spa Historic 6 Hours, Race Retro, the Brooklands Reunion, and the London Classic Car Show, where he live-sketched choice vehicles. Paul has also written, illustrated, designed, hand-assembled, and published a limited edition book “Silver Clouds: The 1934 Grand Prix Season”. The book was very well reviewed and is now sold out. The Mercedes-Benz Archives acquired 2 copies for their permanent collection.
His work has been featured in approximately 80 publications, including Magneto, Classic & Sports Car, Classic Motorsports, Motor Sport, Octane, Échappement Classic, Vintage Motorsport, Étoiles Passion, Sport AUTO, Classic Mercedes, Autostrada Forum, Sports Car Market, Garage Style, New Zealand CLASSIC Driver, TopGear Poland, Vintage Racecar and Wayne Carini’s The Chase.
He is represented in the UK by the Historic Car Art Gallery. Paul is fluent in English and French and currently lives in the lovely village of Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada with his cool cat Phoebe.
