Lara Cawthra
Paediatric Chiropractor and MNRI Core Specialist
Lara Cawthra BSc, MChiro, MCSc (Paeds), FRCC (Paeds), MNRI Core Specialist is an experienced paediatric chiropractor and neurological development specialist based in Camberley, Surrey. With 30 years in practice, Lara has built a respected career centred on children’s health, early development, and holistic, family-centred care.
Lara began her professional journey in health with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Anatomy and Physiology, before completing her Master of Chiropractic degree at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, in 1996. After initial clinical work in Australia, she moved to the UK, where her passion for paediatric care deepened.
Recognising that many lifelong postural and developmental challenges begin early in life, Lara pursued advanced training in paediatric chiropractic. She completed a Master of Chiropractic (Paediatrics) in 2003, becoming one of the few practitioners in the UK with formal postgraduate training specifically in paediatric chiropractic care.
In 2000, Lara founded Hands on Health – Family Chiropractic Clinic, establishing a welcoming environment focused on gentle, comprehensive care for infants, children, adolescents, and families. Under her leadership, the clinic has earned ongoing recognition for excellence, including the Patient Partnership Quality Mark Award from the Royal College of Chiropractors, reflecting strong patient communication and service quality.
Beyond chiropractic treatment, Lara’s professional interests include neuromotor development, primitive/primary reflex integration, nutrition, cranial therapy and environmental health. She has undertaken extensive postgraduate studies in Nutritional and Environmental Medicine, is a member of the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine, the British Society of Ecological Medicine and holds associate membership with the British Association of Nutritional Therapists.
Lara’s interest in neurodevelopment and reflex integration led her to train in the Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI) method. In October 2024, she became the first MNRI Core Specialist in the UK, recognising her advanced proficiency in this specialised approach to neurodevelopmental support.
In addition to her clinical work, Lara has contributed to the profession through education and leadership. She has lectured in chiropractic paediatrics at institutions including the McTimoney College of Chiropractic and for the Royal College of Chiropractors, helping other clinicians frther their understanding of paediatric care. She has also served as a Fellow and former Chair of the Pregnancy and Paediatrics Specialist Faculty of the Royal College of Chiropractors, reflecting her leadership and commitment to advancing standards in paediatric chiropractic practice.
Lara is fully registered with the General Chiropractic Council (UK) and is a member of professional bodies including the Scottish Chiropractic Association. Her multi-disciplinary perspective, gentle techniques, and emphasis on developmental foundations make her a trusted practitioner for families seeking supportive, evidence-informed care for their children.
Whether working with a newborn, school-age child, or teenager, Lara focuses on helping each child reach their potential — combining clinical skill with compassion, clear communication, and a genuine partnership with families.
