Joseph Arabi

Author & Founder of Fiklyn Press

Joseph Arabi is a Middlesbrough-based author, storyteller, and the visionary founder of Fiklyn Press (fiklyn.com), an independent publishing house dedicated to bringing diverse, impactful, and cross-cultural narratives to life. Operating from the North East of England, his creative work centers on the enduring strength of the family unit, the quiet power of human resilience, and the capacity of authentic storytelling to build bridges across social, emotional, and cultural divides.

His creative journey is built on a deep commitment to narrative craft and personal development. To continually refine his approach to structure, voice, and narrative technique, Joseph completed a Certificate course in Creative Writing at Teesside University. This formal academic foundation, combined with his lived experiences, informs a versatile writing portfolio that spans cultural memoir, inspiring children's literature, and emotionally nuanced adult fiction.

Published Works and Literary Themes

Joseph’s published output reflects his belief that literature should serve as both a mirror and a window, reflecting authentic human experiences while allowing readers to glimpse worlds different from their own.
Roots Across Borders: A deeply moving cultural non-fiction memoir that captures the real-world realities, emotional adjustments, and perseverance of an immigrant family building a life in the post-Brexit United Kingdom. Told through the perspective of a devoted father striving for security and a bright future for his children, the book provides an intimate look at the universal trials of uprooting one's life, preserving cultural identity, and finding belonging within unfamiliar surroundings.

Fikayo Saves the Playground: A vibrant, engaging children’s book crafted to inspire young readers with fundamental civic values. The story follows young Fikayo as he takes initiative to transform an overlooked space into a thriving community playground. Through engaging storytelling, the book teaches children the importance of problem-solving, active citizenship, teamwork, and social responsibility, proving that no individual is too young to make a positive impact.

The Calling Divide: Marking his debut into full-length fiction, this novel expands Joseph’s creative horizons into contemporary narrative storytelling. Calling the Divide explores the complex spaces, emotional boundaries, and unseen gaps that both separate and connect human relationships. Moving into fiction has allowed Joseph to examine human connection at a granular level, crafting characters who navigate identity, forgiveness, and understanding across personal and cultural splits.
Fiklyn Press and Community Engagement
Beyond his individual titles, Joseph’s mission as a publisher is realized through Fiklyn Press. Established as an independent publishing platform, Fiklyn Press champions stories that embody authenticity, cross-cultural understanding, and positive social representation. The press serves as a vehicle to elevate diverse perspectives and ensure that narratives rooted in cultural heritage and family resilience find a global audience.

Joseph actively connects with the wider literary and regional community. He regularly participates in local cultural showcases, library events, author talks, and storytelling sessions across the Tees Valley and the wider North East. Across social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram; Fiklyn Press actively engages readers, aspiring writers, and literary enthusiasts with updates on new releases, creative insights, and discussions on the power of inclusive publishing.

Through his books, his work with Fiklyn Press, and his ongoing community engagement, Joseph Arabi remains dedicated to crafting narratives that transcend borders, foster deep empathy, and connect readers of all ages and backgrounds.
