Jessica Almonte
The Seaweed Homeopath
Jessica Almonte, known as The Seaweed Homeopath, or "Seaweed Jess", integrates her background in homeopathy, kinesiology, and yoga with a connection to the ocean. Based in Sooke, BC, she lives by the sea with her two children, where she forages local seaweeds and integrates their therapeutic potential into her clinical work, teaching, and art. For Jessica, seaweed embodies nourishment, resilience, and flow; qualities that guide both her professional practice and her way of life.
Her work centers on four areas: health, movement, education, and art. She treats patients at Intuitive Movement Clinic, offers functional training and yoga, and leads seaweed workshops in schools, retreats, and community spaces. Her creative side comes through cyanotype prints made with freshly collected seaweed, sold in a small shop in the woods of Jordan River, along with poems and film photography published in a local poetry book and showcased in a virtual art exhibition. In 2025, she presented her vision for seaweed health solutions at the International Seaweed Symposium, where her cyanotype poster stood out for its combination of hands-on artistry with scientific and clinical insight.
At home, Jessica homeschools her children in a screen-free environment that emphasizes curiosity, imagination, and real-life learning. From foraging at low tide to preparing workshops together, their days are shaped by nature and shared experiences: "living is learning".
Jessica holds a Homeopathy & Health Sciences Diploma from CCHM, a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Queen’s University, and Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training. She is also certified in Seaweed Therapeutics. Her mission is to make seaweed and holistic health accessible, creative, and relevant whether through patient care, community education, or everyday life by the sea.
