Hilaryano Ferreira is the founder of AETHERA Health, a telehealth platform built in Portugal and operating under European Union healthcare and data protection rules. AETHERA connects patients across Europe with licensed physicians for online consultations and ongoing care in weight management, cardiovascular health, men's and women's health, and longevity medicine.
 
His path to founding the platform began in clinical practice. Working in cardiology at one of Lisbon's hospitals, he saw how much of medicine's time went to administration rather than patients. In 2021, together with colleagues, he co-authored research published in EP Europace, the European journal of cardiac electrophysiology, testing whether artificial intelligence could automate the remote follow-up of pacemakers and other cardiac implantable devices. In collaboration with a Canada-based data science company, the team combined optical character recognition, AI and natural language processing to read device reports automatically, processing thirty reports in under five minutes. The study's conclusion was simple and consequential: automation can carry the paperwork of remote care, freeing clinicians for the decisions that need them.
 
AETHERA Health is that conclusion turned into a company. On the platform, artificial intelligence structures each patient's health assessment, screens for contraindications and prepares a clinical summary, while every diagnosis, prescription and clinical decision remains with a licensed physician. The result is care that is ambitious about automation and conservative about clinical authority, a principle he tested years before it became fashionable.
