Carmel Shami
Holistic Time Management Mentor
I’m Carmel Shami, a time management mentor, Ikigai coach, author, former social worker, and the founder of It’s About Time. I help overwhelmed professionals and individuals with demanding lives break free from burnout and constant overload through a holistic productivity and time-management approach that honors the whole person.
My journey with time began early, growing up on a kibbutz in Israel and accompanying my nurse mother as she visited the elderly. Later, my children’s health challenges and my work as a social worker with bereaved families and seniors deepened my understanding of how precious and fragile time truly is.
These experiences shaped two truths I teach every client. First, we will never complete everything we plan or desire. As one elderly client once told me, "No one dies finished." Second, every choice has a cost. Even when we manage well, something else is always affected, which is why choosing in alignment with our values matters deeply.
For over a decade, I worked in elder care, witnessing how some people found peace later in life while others carried regret for time misspent. That insight, along with my work as a professional organizer and productivity consultant, taught me that real-time management is not about rigid schedules or endless checklists. It’s about building a life you can respect when you look back.
My professional background includes a Bachelor of Social Work from Florida Atlantic University, along with certifications as an Ikigai Coach, Health Coach for Older Adults and Seniors, Grief Support Specialist, Residential Organizer Specialist, Workplace Productivity Specialist, and Team Productivity Specialist. I also taught Life Beyond Clutter at Florida International University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
My holistic approach looks at the full picture: work, relationships, health, growth, and inner well-being. Through coaching, workshops, and writing, including my children’s book Stressy Jessy, I help people create sustainable systems that reduce anxiety, restore balance, and support intentional living.
What moves me most is watching people reconnect with what truly matters and begin living in alignment with their values.
When I am not working, I enjoy reading, meditating, cooking, writing, and spending time with my husband, our three children, and our dog, Elvis.
